Dong Nai River water level rises to near alert level 3, warning many places are at risk of flooding

Specifically, at 7:00 a.m. on September 22, the water level at Ta Lai station (upstream of Dong Nai river) was at 112.76m, 0.26m above alert level 2. This is the highest water level recorded this year.

It is forecasted that in the next 24 hours, the Dong Nai River water level will continue to rise, possibly reaching approximately alarm level 3 (113.00m). At Bien Hoa station (downstream of Dong Nai River), the peak tide level on the morning of September 22 reached 1.95m, near alarm level 2 (alarm level 2 is 2.00m).

The rising water level of the Dong Nai River has caused many low-lying areas along the river in 6 districts and cities of Dong Nai province (Tan Phu, Dinh Quan, Vinh Cuu, Long Thanh, Nhon Trach and Bien Hoa city); Bac Tan Uyen district, Tan Uyen city (Binh Duong province) and Thu Duc city (HCMC) to be at risk of flooding due to floods (high tides downstream).

In these areas there is also the possibility of landslides on river and stream banks.

On La Nga River, the water level has changed slowly in recent days, remaining above alert level 1.

According to the Dong Nai Province Hydrometeorological Station, the flood situation on the Dong Nai River is complicated. The reason is that the upstream localities of the river have heavy rains, and the flood discharge schedule of hydroelectric reservoirs cannot be predicted in advance. People and functional agencies need to closely monitor the weather developments to have solutions to respond to rising river water and limit damage.
