7th intersection on Mai Son highway

Thieu Giang Interchange is the 7th intersection on the North-South Expressway through Thanh Hoa province and is entering the road paving phase, preparing to be completed and put into use on April 30.

Thieu Giang intersection is the 7th intersection on the Mai Son - National Highway 45 through Thanh Hoa province.

In late March 2023, records at the construction site showed that many groups of mechanics and bridge workers were working hard. At the intersection, there are 4 branches leading to and from the highway that have been paved with the first layer of asphalt by the construction unit, and many locations have been paved with the second layer. At this intersection, there is a flyover over the highway that is also being welded by workers of Phuong Thanh Traffic Construction Investment Joint Stock Company, preparing to pour the bridge railing.

While holding a measuring tape to measure the width of the partition wall in preparation for pouring concrete, worker Pham Van Gioi (55 years old, residing in Yen Dinh district, Thanh Hoa province) shared: Since the construction of this overpass started, we have encountered many difficulties because the bridge has to be built with beams across the highway. If not done carefully, it will greatly affect the vehicles passing under the bridge. In addition to having a protective net, when working above, we have to be very careful not to let materials fall, even if it is just a tiny stone, onto the highway.

Worker Luong Van Que (45 years old, from Hoang Hoa district) said: We start work from 6am to almost 11am, and in the afternoon from 1:30pm to 5:30pm. Because there is no electricity in this area, we cannot work at night, but we can only work an extra 2 hours during the day. There are only about 70m left to finish welding the walls to pour concrete for the bridge railing.

Thieu Hoa District Construction Investment Project Management Board said that the output up to now has reached 84%.

Not far away, at the exit branch of the expressway interchange, Mr. Nguyen Duc Thao, Construction Site Manager of Factory 11 under the contractor Central Joint Stock Corporation, is directing the concentration of machinery to prepare the second layer of asphalt.

"Since the beginning of the year, the rainy weather has affected the road paving. Taking advantage of the sunny days, we have to mobilize more manpower and machinery to do the work. At our construction site, there are 4 engineers and about 20 workers. We only have 14 days left to finish the road paving and then turn to traffic safety items to open to traffic on April 30," said Mr. Thao.

According to plan, Thieu Giang intersection will be completed and put into use on April 30.

Talking to Giao thong Newspaper, Mr. Ngo Khac Dao, an officer of the Thieu Hoa District Construction Investment Project Management Board, said: The output of Sub-project 2 (the road project connecting National Highway 1 with National Highway 45, invested by the People's Committee of Thieu Hoa District, Thanh Hoa) has reached 84% of the plan. Currently, the construction of the two ends of the expressway overpass, guardrails, expansion joints, and asphalt concrete is underway. All of this is contained within 15 days to complete the road surface to do the next items such as road markings, lighting, traffic safety systems, and put the project into use on April 30.

It is known that the project connecting National Highway 1 with National Highway 45 has a length of 14.6km with a total investment of 1,417 billion VND and is divided into 3 sub-projects.

Of which, Sub-project 1 (Ma River overpass and road at both ends of the bridge from Km 5+250 - Km 7+250), has a total investment of 655 billion VND from the provincial budget, invested by Thanh Hoa Traffic Construction Investment Project Management Board. Sub-project 2 is invested by Thieu Hoa District People's Committee.

Sub-project 3, the road section on Hoang Hoa district side (Km0 - Km 5+250) is 5.25km long with a total investment of 307 billion VND, invested by Hoang Hoa district People's Committee.

The North-South expressway in the east passing through Thanh Hoa province is more than 98km long, divided into 3 component projects: Mai Son - National Highway 45; National Highway 45 - Nghi Son and Nghi Son - Dien Chau.

On the entire expressway through Thanh Hoa province, there are 7 planned interchanges, including: Gia Mieu interchange (Km 295+800); Ha Linh interchange (Km 306+000); Thieu Giang interchange (Km 315+380); Dong Xuan interchange (Km 327+142); Dong Thang interchange (Km 335+400); Van Thien interchange (Km 351+320) and Nghi Son interchange (Km 379+500).

Thieu Quang Interchange is a part of Sub-project 2 - Highway connecting project of National Highway 1 with National Highway 45 invested by Thieu Hoa District People's Committee (Thanh Hoa Province). Thieu Giang Interchange intersects with Mai Son - National Highway 45 at Km 315+380.
