Construction of Cu Mong tunnel project commenced on December 19

The Ministry of Construction is completing investment procedures, selecting contractors, and minimizing the time to complete the steps to start the Cu Mong tunnel completion project on December 19.

Cu Mong Tunnel is putting a tube tunnel into operation.

This is an occasion for the whole country to inaugurate and start construction of typical projects to celebrate the 79th anniversary of National Resistance Day (December 19, 1946 - December 19, 2025) and welcome the 14th National Congress of the Party for the 2025 - 2030 term.

The North-South Expressway project in the East, Quy Nhon - Chi Thanh section, has a route going through Cu Mong tunnel (connecting Dak Lak with Gia Lai). According to the plan, the section will be completed and put into operation on the entire route with a scale of 4 lanes, the roadbed width is 17.5 m. Meanwhile, the 2.6 km long Cu Mong tunnel is currently being exploited as a 2-lane tunnel, which is one of the bottlenecks of the entire expressway.

The remaining tunnels that have been built but not yet completed will continue to be invested in to complete the construction items of the remaining tunnel shell, the road surface inside and outside the tunnel, the equipment system serving the operation of ventilation, lighting, fire prevention and fighting, etc.

The investment in completing 2 tunnels to put into independent and synchronous exploitation between the route and the tunnel aims to increase traffic capacity, ensure traffic safety on the route during exploitation and use, and improve the investment efficiency of the project.
