Mr. Lai The Nguyen and Mr. Tran Quoc Nam ceased to be National Assembly deputies.

The National Assembly Standing Committee has issued a resolution to dismiss Mr. Lai The Nguyen and Mr. Tran Quoc Nam from their duties as deputies of the 15th National Assembly.

On the afternoon of September 22, the National Assembly Standing Committee met to consider and decide on the dismissal of Mr. Lai The Nguyen (of the National Assembly Delegation of Thanh Hoa province) and Mr. Tran Quoc Nam (of the National Assembly Delegation of Khanh Hoa province) from their duties as deputies of the 15th National Assembly.

Accordingly, based on the Constitution, the Law on Organization of the National Assembly and relevant legal provisions ; based on the opinions of competent agencies; based on the submission of the Standing Committee of the National Assembly Delegation Work Committee.

At the same time, considering the application for resignation from the duties of National Assembly deputy of Mr. Lai The Nguyen on September 18 and the application for resignation from the duties of National Assembly deputy of Mr. Tran Quoc Nam on September 18, the National Assembly Standing Committee discussed, voted by secret ballot to approve and promulgate Resolution 1831 on the dismissal of Mr. Lai The Nguyen and Mr. Tran Quoc Nam from the duties of National Assembly deputy of the 15th tenure.

Mr. Lai The Nguyen, born in 1970, was the Standing Deputy Secretary of Thanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council for the 2021-2026 term.

Mr. Nguyen held the positions of Chief of the Provincial Party Committee Office, Secretary of Ngoc Lac District Party Committee, Head of the Propaganda Department, Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organization Department, Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of the 15th term of Thanh Hoa province.

On September 17, at the 33rd session of the Thanh Hoa Provincial People's Council, the Central Committee decided to grant early retirement to Mr. Lai The Nguyen.

Mr. Tran Quoc Nam was born in 1971. He has more than 25 years of working experience in Ninh Thuan (old).

He served as Head of the Provincial Party Committee's Organizing Committee, then Chairman of the Ninh Thuan Provincial People's Committee from 2020 and was a delegate of the 15th National Assembly, Head of the National Assembly Delegation of Ninh Thuan Province.

After the merger of Ninh Thuan and Khanh Hoa provinces, from July 1, 2025, Mr. Nam was appointed as Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of Khanh Hoa People's Committee.

On September 8, the leader of the Khanh Hoa Provincial Party Committee's Organizing Committee confirmed that Mr. Nam submitted a resignation letter for "personal reasons".
