Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Chief of the Party Central Committee Office holds the position of Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs.

On the morning of August 30, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented a decision on personnel work to Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee and Chief of the Party Central Committee Office.

At the ceremony, Minister of Home Affairs Pham Thi Thanh Tra announced the Prime Minister's decision to accept Mr. Le Hoai Trung to work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and hand over the authority of Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The Minister of Home Affairs also announced the decision of the Standing Committee of the Government Party Committee on appointing Mr. Le Hoai Trung, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, to join the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, and hold the position of Secretary of the Party Committee of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the 2025-2030 term.

Previously, the President decided to temporarily suspend Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, from his position as Minister of Foreign Affairs until the 15th National Assembly dismisses him from his position as Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Presenting the decision and congratulating him, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh stated that Mr. Le Hoai Trung is a senior leader of the Party, exemplary in political mettle, moral qualities, sharp strategic thinking, and well-trained in the field of diplomacy.

During his 43 years of work, Mr. Le Hoai Trung is a leader with rich and comprehensive experience in diplomacy. In all his positions, Mr. Le Hoai Trung has always shown himself to be an exemplary leader, dedicated, responsible, and determined in performing the duties and tasks assigned by the Party and the State.

The Prime Minister emphasized that in recent years, the diplomatic sector has achieved many outstanding achievements, made important contributions to the cause of national construction and development, and become one of the bright spots in the country's overall achievements.

The Prime Minister requested Acting Minister Le Hoai Trung and the collective leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to continue promoting the pioneering, important, and regular role of foreign affairs in the new era, making efforts to contribute to the completion of the two 100-year strategic goals set out; making practical contributions to expanding the country's development space, creating integration opportunities, and effectively serving strategic breakthroughs in the coming period.

"Diplomacy in the new era, along with the task of protecting the Fatherland, needs to take the lead in identifying and seizing opportunities; not allowing the Party and State to be passive or surprised about the strategy for foreign affairs tasks; must have a firm grasp of the situation to advise the Party and State on foreign affairs that are appropriate, flexible, and effective to the situation," the Prime Minister emphasized.

The Prime Minister directed the building of a comprehensive, modern, and professional diplomatic sector in the spirit of the Party's documents, on par with the region and reaching international standards, in which the key task is to continue training a team of diplomatic officers who are both red and professional, pioneering, courageous, united, responsible, creative, and innovative in their activities.

The Government always accompanies and creates favorable conditions for you to work and listen to your opinions and contributions to the Government's activities.

Acting Foreign Minister Le Hoai Trung said this was both an honor and a great responsibility; at the same time, he expressed his respect and appreciation for the contributions of generations of diplomatic officials, especially Foreign Ministers, including Deputy Prime Minister and Minister Bui Thanh Son.

The Acting Minister stated that the tasks facing the diplomatic sector in the coming time are extremely heavy. The world and regional situation is changing rapidly and profoundly, posing many new problems for our country.

Mr. Le Hoai Trung pledged that together with the leadership, cadres, civil servants, public employees and workers of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, he will strive to successfully complete the assigned tasks.
