Trump leads Biden in hypothetical election

According to a survey released on January 25 by Reuters/Ipsos , Mr. Trump's support rate is 40%, while Mr. Biden's is 34% in a hypothetical rematch. Meanwhile, the remaining 26% are undecided, voting for another candidate or not voting.

The survey, conducted with 1,250 adults in the US, shows that the advantage is leaning towards Mr. Trump. Previously, a survey earlier this month showed that the support rate of Mr. Biden and Mr. Trump was equal.

As Mr Trump easily defeated the only remaining major rival in the race for the Republican nomination, former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, some 67% of respondents said they were "tired of seeing the same candidates in the presidential election and want someone new".

However, only 18% said they would not vote if Mr. Biden or Mr. Trump were their choice.

"I hate the idea of having to choose for the less-bad. We can have better options," said Kimberly Sofge, 56, a project manager in Washington, DC.

The US presidential election is heating up with the first Republican primaries. A Biden-Trump rematch is considered more likely as both are currently strong candidates for their parties. After Trump's two recent victories, Biden's campaign team announced that it was ready for this scenario.
