Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen holds the position of Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee

(Dan Tri) - Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen (56 years old), Master of Economics, Deputy Secretary of Can Tho City Party Committee, was elected to hold the position of Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee to replace Mr. Tran Van Lau.

On the afternoon of October 3, the People's Council of Can Tho City held a special session of the 10th term, 2021-2026, to carry out many important contents, including the implementation of personnel work under its authority.

Accordingly, at the meeting, delegates voted to dismiss Mr. Tran Van Lau from the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City for the 2021-2026 term (because he was appointed by the Politburo to hold the position of Secretary of the Vinh Long Provincial Party Committee).

At the meeting, delegates also voted to elect Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen, Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, to hold the position of Chairman of the People's Committee of Can Tho City.

Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen said that this is a great honor for him, as well as a heavy responsibility that the Party, State, voters and people of Can Tho City have entrusted him with.

“More than 7 months ago, in this hall, I gave a speech accepting the duties of Chairman of the People's Committee of the old Can Tho City for the 2021-2026 term. And today, for the second time in 2025, I continue to accept the duties of Chairman of the People's Committee of the new Can Tho City on the basis of merging 3 localities (Can Tho, Soc Trang and Hau Giang).

"I promise to respectfully inherit and promote the achievements, learn from the valuable experiences of my predecessors; make every effort, wholeheartedly, wholeheartedly, constantly cultivate, train, and strive in all aspects; vow to use all my abilities, knowledge, enthusiasm, and responsibilities, join forces and unite with the collective to properly and fully perform the assigned duties, tasks, and powers," Mr. Tuyen said.

Before merging the three provinces of Can Tho, Hau Giang and Soc Trang, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen was the Permanent Vice Chairman of Hau Giang province.

From February 20 to June 30, 2025, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen was elected Chairman of Can Tho City People's Committee.

On July 1, when merging the three localities of Can Tho, Soc Trang and Hau Giang, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen was appointed Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2020-2025 term.

On September 27, at the 1st Congress of the Can Tho City Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term, Mr. Truong Canh Tuyen was appointed Deputy Secretary of the Can Tho City Party Committee.
