Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai continues to hold the position of Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee

VTV.vn - On the morning of October 3, the first Congress of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee, term 2025-2030, officially opened.

General Phan Van Giang, Politburo member and Minister of National Defense attended and directed the Congress.

At the Congress, the Organizing Committee announced the decision of the Politburo and the Secretariat on personnel work, appointing the Executive Committee, Standing Committee, Secretary and Deputy Secretaries of the Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term. The Executive Committee of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee consists of 66 members, the Standing Committee of the Provincial Party Committee has 16 members.

The Politburo appointed Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai - Member of the Party Central Committee, incumbent Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee, to continue holding the position of Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee for the 2025-2030 term. The four appointed Deputy Secretaries include Mr. Nguyen Thanh Nhan - Standing Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Council; Mr. Ho Van Mung - Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee; Mr. Lam Minh Thanh - Head of the Provincial National Assembly Delegation and Ms. Tran Thi Thanh Huong - Chairwoman of the Provincial Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Tien Hai, 60 years old, from Ca Mau province, has a Master's degree in Public Administration Management and a Bachelor's degree in Law. During his career, he has held many important positions such as Secretary of Cai Nuoc District Party Committee, Director of the Department of Justice, Vice Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Deputy Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee, Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, Secretary of Ca Mau Provincial Party Committee. In January 2025, the Politburo assigned him to hold the position of Secretary of Kien Giang Provincial Party Committee. After the merger of Kien Giang and An Giang provinces, he was appointed as the new Secretary of An Giang Provincial Party Committee.

The first Congress of the An Giang Provincial Party Committee after the merger of the two provinces has a particularly important political significance, not only shaping the direction, goals, tasks, and comprehensive development solutions for the province in the period of 2025-2030 but also consolidating a strong political system, arousing the will, determination, and aspirations of the Party Committee and the people. The motto of action "One An Giang - One vision - One will - One belief in victory" is both a guideline and a strong call to bring the province to develop rapidly and sustainably in the new period.

In the 2025-2030 term, An Giang sets out 36 targets, including 10 outstanding economic targets such as gross regional domestic product (GRDP) at current prices reaching over VND 630,370 billion, an average 5-year GRDP growth rate of 11% or more, GRDP per capita reaching over USD 6,300 and the local innovation index (PII) being in the top 20 nationwide. In terms of society, the province sets a target of 100% of workers having jobs, 100% of people having health insurance, 100% of communes meeting new rural standards, ensuring an average income per capita of over VND 8.59 million per month.

Speaking at the Congress, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, affirmed that after the merger, An Giang has a wide space for socio-economic development, abundant human resources, strong industrial growth, and synchronous transport infrastructure. In addition, the province also has great potential for tourism and marine economy, creating conditions for comprehensive development, joining the whole country in entering a new era of national development. According to the Politburo's resolution on the development direction of the Mekong Delta region to 2030, with a vision to 2045, An Giang is identified as a strong marine economic center of the country.
