MU suffered a 1-3 defeat to Brentford in round 6 of the Premier League on September 27. Since Amorim took over the team in November 2024, MU has only won 34 points after 33 matches - a number that has made the public and experts question his true ability at Old Trafford.
Speaking about the threat of being sacked after the defeat to Brentford, Amorim said: “I am not worried about the future because I am not that type of person. I am not the one who makes decisions about that. I just want to do my best game by game."
Former Man City defender and BBC pundit Micah Richards believes Amorim's tactics are pushing United into a dead end. "I think the conservatism in the 3-4-2-1 system may be the reason he lost his job. This way of playing is ineffective and causes chaos," Richards told BBC .
Richards also pointed out that the MU defense kept making mistakes against Brentford because they could not adapt to the current formation. "Harry Maguire tried to trap offside for the first goal. Matthijs de Ligt and Maguire did not know where to stand for the second goal. All of these are the consequences of an unsuitable system," the former defender analyzed.
Amid declining performance and internal instability, Amorim's position at Old Trafford is in serious jeopardy.
