Above all, AIMO for the 2025-2026 school year aims to foster a serious learning spirit and a desire to conquer knowledge for the young generation," journalist Phung Cong Suong emphasized.

AIMO 2025-2026 is designed with dual goals: to nurture a love of Mathematics, encourage creative thinking linked to practice; and at the same time equip global citizens with core competencies such as logical thinking, the ability to apply knowledge, connect with technology, and academic foreign language skills.

This is also one of the activities to concretize the major orientations of the Party and the State on education and science and technology. The spirit of Resolution No. 71-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in education and training development and Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW on breakthroughs in science, technology, innovation and national digital transformation is realized through an academic playground with international standards, transparency, fairness, promoting students to learn Math in English and applying technology to expand opportunities to access knowledge. Thereby, AIMO contributes to forming a class of students with good professional skills, strong foreign language skills, and ready for integration.

The competition is for students from grades 2 to 12, implemented in a four-level roadmap. The first is the national online preliminary round (November-December 2025), helping to remove geographical barriers and expand participation opportunities. Candidates with high scores continue to the Regional round (March 2026) in three regions, followed by the national final (before April 20, 2026) with the test entirely in English to select the team to participate in the international final (August 1-5, 2026). Candidates take the test on paper with the test in English. Each test consists of 20 questions, with a total score of 100, divided into three parts with increasing difficulty. The test time is 60 to 90 minutes depending on the grade level. The test scoring applies the international Olympic scale, ensuring objectivity and transparency.

The assessment is carried out in two ways. With the online preliminary round, the system allows for processing a large volume of tests in a short time, while providing reference indicators to help parents and schools monitor students' progress. In the direct rounds, candidates take the test on paper, which is graded according to the international Olympic scale, applying a multi-level comparison mechanism to ensure objectivity, transparency and fairness.

Each candidate who completes the preliminary round will be awarded an electronic certificate, recognizing their participation efforts and marking the first milestone in their academic journey. In the Regional round, candidates with high achievements will receive certificates according to the A, B, C and encouragement categories.

Entering the national and international finals, the best contestants will be awarded Gold, Silver, Bronze Medals and certificates according to international standards; at the same time, have the opportunity to receive scholarships, awards and educational gifts from the Organizing Committee or accompanying units, to encourage the spirit of learning.

According to Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Phong Dien, Vice President of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, Co-Chair of the Organizing Committee: Mathematics plays a fundamental role in the fields of engineering and technology, and is also an important tool for training logical thinking. Organizing competitions like AIMO not only inspires the love of Mathematics in middle and high school students but also affirms the role of AIMO as a prestigious academic environment, where Vietnamese students can shine and integrate with international friends.
