One of the five major orientations set forth by the Resolution of the Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Congress for the 2020-2025 term, focusing on developing infrastructure in the southern region, especially transport infrastructure, industrial zones and clusters, while prioritizing site clearance to attract investment, has now come true.
Specifically, the Thai Nguyen- Bac Ninh -Phu Tho connecting route invested by Thai Nguyen province with more than 4,000 billion VND, more than 40 km long with four lanes was inaugurated on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2. Previously, Thai Nguyen put into use the Hanoi Capital Region Ring Road 5 running through the province with four lanes connecting to Bac Ninh province.
After the inauguration of the Hanoi Capital Region Ring Road 5 in the province on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the liberation of the South (April 30), the Hanh Phuc-Xuan Phuong and Bao Ly-Xuan Phuong Industrial Clusters basically completed the infrastructure construction, and awarded a series of investment certificates to enterprises with capital ranging from several hundred billion to thousands of billions of VND to build factories and production facilities.
On this occasion, Phu Binh I and Phu Binh II urban areas were started to be built along the 5th ring road of Hanoi capital, fundamentally changing the appearance of Phu Binh commune today. From 2024 to now, many large-scale urban areas with modern infrastructure and beautiful landscapes have been built along the 5th ring road in Pho Yen city (now Pho Yen ward).
After the two connecting routes Thai Nguyen-Bac Ninh-Phu Tho and the Ring Road 5 of the Hanoi Capital region through Thai Nguyen province were put into use, the province and investors broke ground and started construction of Yen Binh 3 and Yen Binh 2 Industrial Parks with a capital of about 6,000 billion VND. Phu Binh and Thuong Dinh Industrial Parks are urgently being cleared; Tay Pho Yen Urban-Service Area and Yen Binh Concentrated Information Technology Park are preparing to be deployed. These are large, key industrial parks with modern infrastructure.
This shows that the traffic routes in the south of the province have been invested in and put into use, creating a new, large development space, creating a solid foundation for Thai Nguyen to attract secondary investors with modern technology, creating many jobs, and increasing budget revenue in the coming years.
According to the leader of Thai Nguyen Department of Construction, in the 2020-2025 term, the province has allocated nearly 15 trillion VND to build new, upgrade, and expand 38 traffic projects and has completed nearly 30 projects so far. In addition, the Central Government has invested in the Cho Moi-Bac Kan expressway project with a total investment of 5,750 billion VND and has started construction; the Ho Chi Minh road project, Cho Chu-Trung Son Intersection (Tuyen Quang), through Thai Nguyen province, has completed compensation, site clearance, and resettlement.
The construction and completion of traffic projects have created a breakthrough in traffic infrastructure connecting smoothly with the province's traffic network and neighboring localities, opening up space for the development of industrial parks, clusters, urban areas, tourism, trade and services; contributing to promoting investment attraction.
The results have attracted 231 domestic investment projects with a total capital of 81,734 billion VND; 150 FDI projects were newly licensed and adjusted to increase capital with a total investment of 2.73 billion USD. Thereby, Thai Nguyen continues to be a bright spot attracting domestic and foreign investment capital, creating an export value of 26 to 27 billion USD/year.
The 1st Thai Nguyen Provincial Party Congress, term 2025-2030, proposed three development breakthroughs, focusing on developing synchronous and modern infrastructure to serve socio-economic development, prioritizing the fields of transportation, electricity, industrial parks and clusters; trade, services, tourism, and urban areas associated with the development of the Hanoi Capital region.
According to the representative of Thai Nguyen province's leadership, a number of major transport projects will be implemented from 2026 to connect Thai Nguyen with Tuyen Quang, Lang Son, and Cao Bang provinces; complete investment in upgrading and expanding the Hanoi-Thai Nguyen-Cho Moi and Cho Moi-Bac Kan expressways; invest in building Ring Road 5 and the road along Nui Coc Lake; coordinate in building the Thai Nguyen (old Bac Kan)-Cao Bang expressway; propose the Central Government to supplement the planning and implement investment in the Lang Son-Thai Nguyen-Tuyen Quang expressway.
After the merger, Thai Nguyen has a large area, rich potential and advantages, and in the 2025-2030 term, it is expected that the locality will invest in many key transport projects, not only exploiting potential and advantages but also continuing to create a large space to attract investment, facilitate travel, strengthen connectivity, link provinces, transport goods within the region, import and export to promote socio-economic development.
