On February 27, Binh Thuan Provincial Museum received information from people in the sand dune area of Suoi Nuoc quarter, Mui Ne ward (Phan Thiet city) while gardening that they accidentally discovered some traces of pottery pieces and stone tools suspected to be ancient objects.

Binh Thuan Provincial Museum has coordinated with Mui Ne Antiquities Museum to send specialized staff to conduct archaeological investigations. Through inspection, it was confirmed that there were many pieces of rough and smooth pottery broken from objects such as jars, pots, bowls; there were also grinding tables, along with many ancient calcified shells in the cultural layer; the area of influence within a radius of 500m 2 , with many pristine sand dunes.

According to the assessment and comparison of documents and artifacts on display at the Provincial Museum by professional staff, it was initially determined that this is a vestige of Sa Huynh culture, dating back 2,500 - 3,000 years ago, with a relatively thick cultural layer, capable of archaeological exploration for research and further archaeological excavation. This discovery marks the first time in Mui Ne area that vestiges of Sa Huynh culture have been discovered, important data in research, display, and clarification of the scope of influence and spread of Sa Huynh culture in Binh Thuan land.
