Promoting the spirit of Thai Binh land and people in the new era

Exactly 135 years ago today (March 21, 1890 - March 21, 2025), the Governor-General of Indochina issued a decree establishing Thai Binh province, officially marking Thai Binh as an administrative unit directly under the central government. Since then, March 21 has become a traditional day, reminding millions of Thai Binh people, whether living in the province or studying or working outside the province, to turn to their homeland with pride.

After 135 years of construction and development in the journey of thousands of years of conquering land, building dikes to reclaim the sea, establishing villages and communes, with hard-working hands, intelligent minds, brave and resilient hearts, generations of Thai Binh residents have established a land named Thai Binh, famous in history books in many periods, at many decisive moments of the nation's history. In the place where the sacred energy of rivers and seas was forged, in the middle of the 6th century, Ly Bi chose this land to raise the flag, gather troops and provisions, drive out the Liang invaders, and give birth to the Van Xuan state. In the 10th century, Dinh Bo Linh sought refuge here, from there quelled the chaos of the separatists, and established the Dai Co Viet state. In the 13th century, the ancestors of the Tran dynasty, from fishing, chose Hai Ap (now Hung Ha district) to go ashore to settle down and develop agriculture, and establish the imperial career. Possessing the outstanding spirit and mettle of people with "swords on their backs and soft pens in their hands", in Thai Binh land, there are heroes and great men in every generation.

Following the flow of history, in the struggles against invasion, the names of places and people of Thai Binh all appeared as bright spots. In the 20th century - the century of peasant uprisings, under the leadership of the Party, the Thai Binh Party Committee led the people to carry out vigorous and powerful revolutionary struggles, in which the demonstration of Duyen Ha - Tien Hung farmers and the drumbeat of Tien Hai farmers are forever one of the peaks of the 1930 - 1931 revolutionary movement that still resonates today, symbolizing the resilient and indomitable spirit of Vietnamese farmers and Thai Binh farmers. In the resistance war against American imperialism, the Party Committee and people of Thai Binh became famous for the movement of "steadfast hands on the plow, steady hands on the gun", implementing "not a pound of rice missing, not a soldier missing", both producing well and fighting well, becoming the "Five-ton Homeland". Whether performing the duties of those on the front line or those in the rear, the people of Thai Binh and the land of Thai Binh are always pioneers, winning glorious victories, contributing to further glorifying the thousand-year-old cultural tradition of the Vietnamese people.

Entering the period of innovation, in the fight against poverty and backwardness, the Party Committee and people of Thai Binh continue to take the lead in many movements and tasks. The industrialization and modernization of agriculture and rural areas; building new rural areas; promoting economic restructuring, making breakthroughs in mechanisms and policies to attract investment, making breakthroughs in industrial development; developing agriculture towards commodity production... are the key, continuous tasks that the Party Committee has led and implemented for many decades with an increasingly determined and practical spirit with greater aspirations. From a province with a small land area and a large population, with frequent floods, Thai Binh today has a new look with new vitality. The economy has made a breakthrough development. The average growth rate of gross regional domestic product (GRDP) in the past 5 years is estimated at 8.18%/year, higher than the national average. The scale of the economy has been expanded; the economic structure has shifted positively and in the right direction. It is the crystallization and achievement of the high promotion of homeland traditions, solidarity spirit, and creative thinking of generations of Thai Binh people throughout history.

On the new revolutionary path, besides opportunities and advantages, there are still many difficulties and challenges. To continue to join the whole Party and people of the whole country to enter the new era, the Party Committee and people of Thai Binh will constantly promote the strength of great solidarity, follow the spirit of the predecessors who were the pioneers in opening up the land, be ready to accept new tasks in a new mindset, innovate more strongly in awareness and leadership methods; be more proactive and creative to unleash all potentials, advantages and resources, determined to build the land at the forefront of the wind and waves, the gateway to the East Sea to become more and more beautiful. So that the name of Thai Binh land and people will always be brilliant and full of pride, as it has been for hundreds of years.
