Developing trade and services in a modern direction

Thanh Ba district has national highway 2, 2D and Noi Bai - Lao Cai expressway running through, convenient for developing trade and services. Along with that, the district focuses on mobilizing investment resources, upgrading market infrastructure, rural roads; encouraging economic sectors to participate in trade and service activities. The district pays attention to administrative procedure reform.

Thanks to that, the quality, quantity and scale of commercial and service businesses are increasingly expanded, operating effectively, meeting the needs of the people, contributing to promoting the overall socio-economic development of the district. The average added value of the trade and service sector is 6.8%/year, accounting for 37% of the district's economic structure. In the first 6 months of 2024, the total revenue from retail sales of consumer goods in the district reached 1,365 billion VND, up 1.9% over the same period.

The convenience store of Ms. Nguyen Thi Thu Ha, Zone 6, Dong Xuan Commune sells a variety of goods to meet people's needs.

Currently, the whole district has 14 markets, with an average area of ​​500 - 30,000m2. Each market is about 5km apart, serving about 8,000 people/market. With investment attention, from 2018 to now, the district has renovated and upgraded many markets such as: Man Lan Market, Khai Xuan Market, Lanh Market in Dong Thanh Commune, Ninh Dan Market... and built a new Dong Xuan market with a total investment of over 143 billion VND. The markets are all operating stably, traders sell a variety of goods. The management of business order, prices, environmental sanitation, and food safety is regularly inspected by specialized agencies.

Besides the markets, in the district there are more than 4,100 businesses and service and commercial establishments, focusing on areas such as: Restaurants, transportation services, grocery stores, motorbike repair, construction... Goods from high-end to popular have been distributed to the centers of communes and towns.

Furthermore, the appearance of modern retail stores, branches of businesses investing in development and expanding the market such as: Dien May Xanh, Honda Thanh Cong, Duy Hung motorbikes... helps people shorten the distance when shopping for electronic products, refrigeration, and motorbikes.

To aim at the goal of developing the trade and service sector in a modern and specialized direction, serving the needs of the people associated with protecting the rights of consumers, Mr. Nguyen Tuan Anh - Deputy Head of the District Economic - Infrastructure Department said: In the coming time, the district will continue to promote calling for investors to build new commercial areas, supermarkets of class III or higher and develop convenience stores, mini supermarkets in rural areas; focus resources on investing, upgrading, and renovating a number of markets to serve the needs of buying, selling, and exchanging goods of the people; build and develop types of services with potential strengths such as: Transportation services, wharfs, banking and finance, tourism , entertainment; focus on training human resources, especially communication skills and trade promotion.

Along with that, the district has stepped up propaganda and implemented the Campaign for Vietnamese people to prioritize using Vietnamese goods; coordinated with functional agencies to strengthen food safety management at production and business establishments, street food, inspect, control, stabilize the market, promptly prevent smuggling and trade fraud, and protect consumer rights.
