Registration fees, prices—when submitting documents to enter grade 10 schools in Hanoi from a few million to several million, are determined by the schools themselves.
Currently, many private schools in Hanoi have announced enrollment for grade 10 for the 2025-2026 school year. In addition to tuition and expected fees such as boarding services and shuttle buses, many schools have announced that parents will have to pay an additional fee, which each school uses a different name such as: admission fee, reservation fee, registration fee, and enrollment fee.
These fees are a one-time payment at the time of registration to secure a place. If the student enrolls, the school will deduct this amount from the costs for the year. If the student does not enroll, depending on the school, parents may receive a partial, full or no refund.
The deposit fees for private schools in Hanoi this year range from several million to tens of millions of dong:
STT | School | Reservation fee |
1 | Archimedes School (Dong Anh) | 23 million VND |

At the conference on enrollment guidance for the 2024-2025 school year, Director of the Hanoi Department of Education and Training Tran The Cuong said that private schools collecting deposit fees is inhumane and destroys the exemplary nature of schools.
The schools explained that this fee was to ensure stability and avoid parents submitting and withdrawing applications, causing confusion. However, Mr. Cuong disagreed and suggested that the schools learn from their experiences and create the best conditions for students.
This year, it is expected that the whole of Hanoi will have about 127,000 students taking the junior high school graduation exam, of which 79,000 will be admitted to public grade 10, and 48,000 will study at private high schools, vocational education centers, and continuing education centers.
