Navy: Proactively preventing storm Wipha

According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, at 1:00 a.m. on July 19, the center of storm Wipha was located right in the sea north of Luzon Island (Philippines). The strongest wind speed is level 9 (75 - 88 km/h), gusting to level 11.

To respond to storm Wipha, the Navy Command requested units to proactively deploy prevention and control measures.

To proactively respond to storm Wipha, the Navy Command requires units to perform well a number of contents: Closely monitor the storm's developments and the rain and flood situation in the area, promptly notify forces operating at sea to take measures to avoid storms to ensure safety; strictly maintain a 24/24-hour on-duty regime, ready forces and means to participate in search and rescue at sea, respond, and help people prevent and overcome the consequences of natural disasters when situations occur.

Officers and sailors of Navy's on-duty ships and stations are ready to respond to Typhoon Whipa.

At the same time, direct, inspect and review to grasp the flood situation in low-lying areas, along rivers, streams, downstream of lakes, dams, areas at risk of landslides; inspect and consolidate works, tunnels, trenches, fortifications, warehouses, barracks, factories, radar stations; clear and dredge sewers; have plans to evacuate people and property, ensuring absolute safety for soldiers and people in the area./.
