Managing, protecting and promoting the value of relics associated with tourism development

Carrying many values associated with a famous dynasty in history, Lam Kinh National Special Relic Site is always an attractive destination for people and tourists. Every year, the relic welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors to visit and worship. To manage, protect and promote the value of the relic, the Relic Management Board has developed a project outline "Innovation in management, exploitation and development of Lam Kinh Relic Site". The management and exploitation of the relic is associated with the preservation and promotion of the value of the relic associated with tourism development. Every year, the Relic Management Board coordinates with local authorities and functional forces to organize propaganda and instruct cadres, civil servants, workers and people to properly implement regulations on fire prevention and fighting; environmental protection; relic protection, not grazing livestock in the relic area, not committing acts of encroachment on the relic... Thereby, raising awareness and responsibility of the community in joining hands to protect the relic.

Head of the Ho Ha Hai Relic Management Board said: “The Lam Kinh Historical Relic Management Board has promoted propaganda about the responsibility of protecting relics in the community; promoted the capacity to manage, protect and promote the value of relics for cadres, civil servants and workers; paid attention to investing in a synchronous system of modern fire prevention and fighting equipment; installed 100 surveillance cameras in the main hall, temple, mausoleum, steles... to support relic management; installed wooden technical fences with signs to guide visitors to avoid direct impacts that affect artifacts. Along with that, arrange people to regularly check and monitor the fire alarm system, cameras, power lines and points in the relic to detect abnormalities early”.

Current reality shows that, in order to manage, protect and promote the value of relics, local authorities have paid special attention to the work of renovating and restoring relics; regularly coordinate with functional agencies to inspect and assess the current status of relics in the area, thereby making plans for restoration and embellishment based on different funding sources; making plans and projects for the preservation, restoration and restoration of relics; developing plans to prevent acts of encroachment on relics, protecting rare artifacts; demarcating protection zones and marking the boundaries of relics. Festivals associated with relics are implemented according to a new lifestyle, ensuring compliance with the provisions of law and local conventions and regulations; directing localities to establish relic management boards; developing operating regulations...

The work of managing, protecting and promoting the value of relics in the province has achieved many remarkable results in recent times. Every year, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism strengthens leadership, direction and guidance for units and localities to strictly implement the Law on Cultural Heritage, regulations and documents of superiors in the work of managing, protecting and promoting the value of heritage. Thereby, degraded relics are updated promptly, many relics are inventoried and ranked; many projects are implemented, many relics are restored and embellished. From 2021 to present, 7 more relics have been ranked at the provincial level; 190 relics/projects have been approved for investment policies; 91 relics/projects have been supported with funding for investment, preservation, restoration, embellishment and anti-degradation.

The Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has guided units and localities to carry out the management, protection and promotion of the value of relics associated with tourism development. Therefore, the relics have been and are being built with introductory signs, signposts, and digital transformation applications in the relics to serve the research, sightseeing and worship of the people and tourists.

However, due to the relatively large number of relics in the province; the community's awareness of protecting relics is not uniform; management work is sometimes not strict... Therefore, the work of managing, protecting and promoting the value of relics needs to be identified as an important task, carried out regularly and continuously and is not only the task of the culture, sports and tourism sector, but also the responsibility of all levels, sectors, units and the people.
