Quang Ninh launches 3-day clean-up campaign in Ha Long Bay

Storm No. 3 (super typhoon Yagi ) is a major storm that caused heavy damage to tourist facilities, forcing the temporary suspension of welcoming visitors to Ha Long Bay.

In recent days, the Bay Management Board has proactively coordinated with departments, branches, sectors and localities to urgently concentrate forces to overcome the damage caused by the storm.

Up to now, some tourist attractions have met the conditions to welcome and serve tourists . Ha Long Bay Management Board announced the organization of welcoming and serving tourists at the following qualified locations: Route 1 (Thien Cung - Dau Go tourist attractions); Route 2 (Sung Sot, Hang Luon, Ti Top tourist attractions); Route 5 (except Ba Hang).

In addition, the overnight accommodation locations that are also qualified to welcome guests are: Hon 587 - Nha Lat - Hang Luon; Hon Cat Lan speedboat transfer point.

According to the Ha Long Bay Management Board, the remaining tourist attractions in Ha Long Bay are continuing to mobilize maximum forces to urgently overcome the consequences of the storm and will announce the organization to welcome visitors back as soon as possible.

Also on September 13, in order to quickly restore the tourism industry after the storm, at a meeting with tourism businesses and units in the area, Mr. Cao Tuong Huy, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province, affirmed that the province will immediately direct the removal of all difficulties of tourism businesses. A 3-day campaign to clean up Ha Long Bay will be organized to welcome tourists back after storm No. 3.

According to the report, most of the onshore accommodation facilities suffered damage related to broken glass, broken tiles, damaged and fallen trees and lamp posts in the premises; the electricity, air conditioning and water systems of many facilities were severely damaged, concentrated in Ha Long, Van Don, Cam Pha and Co To; 27 cruise ships and 4 cargo ships sank; the infrastructure at Tuan Chau International Passenger Port had its roof damaged, and the offices and reception areas of businesses at the port were all damaged. The entire pontoon of wharf No. 3 at Ha Long International Passenger Port was washed away...

To quickly restore tourism services, right after the storm, units immediately started to fix the problem, the earliest goal was to ensure conditions to welcome guests. However, the organization of the fix encountered difficulties due to the lack of electricity, water, telecommunication system, etc.

Enterprises requested the Provincial People's Committee to direct and support post-storm recovery work; continue to organize tourism promotion programs, review and add some new tourist attractions to reduce the load on traditional areas. In addition, immediately salvage sunken ships to ensure stable and safe transportation activities; have policies to extend and postpone debts from banks, late payment of social insurance, etc.

Sharing the difficulties of units and businesses, in order for the service - tourism sector to recover as quickly as possible, creating safe, friendly and attractive destinations for tourists; affirming the spirit of self-reliance and self-reliance of the province, Mr. Cao Tuong Huy hopes that units and businesses operating in service - tourism will join hands and accompany the province to focus on overcoming this difficult period.

"Right after the storm, the Provincial People's Committee directly met with service and tourism businesses, which showed the province's concern and anxiety for this key economic sector. The consistent viewpoint is that the goals and targets for service and tourism will be steadfast and maintained according to plan to contribute to the overall growth of the province," Mr. Cao Tuong Huy emphasized.

The Chairman of the Quang Ninh Provincial People's Committee requested relevant departments and branches to focus on immediately fixing the problems; prioritizing electricity and telecommunications supply, promptly handling environmental sanitation and food safety issues to welcome guests. In particular, immediately deploy a 3-day campaign to clean up Ha Long Bay to collect waste, renovate infrastructure, immediately salvage sunken ships, and mobilize organizations and unions to join in.

At the same time, review and strictly manage prices, ensure the supply of food and necessities; immediately restore sightseeing and accommodation activities in qualified areas in Ha Long Bay, and transport activities to islands; and promote the province's tourism potential and strengths.

For requests from service and tourism businesses, the Department of Finance is required to develop a plan to support water prices; the Department of Transport supports the salvage of sunken tourist boats. Immediately inform about tax exemption and reduction policies according to current regulations of the State.

To accompany businesses, Quang Ninh will immediately propose to the Government policies on banking including debt rescheduling, debt extension, debt deferral, loan interest rate reduction, new loans for damaged businesses; propose to reduce electricity prices, taxes, insurance, etc.
