Quang Tri affirms new resilience

QTO - The 2020-2025 term ended in a context where the world, the country and the province experienced many unpredictable changes, from the COVID-19 pandemic, the global economic recession to increasingly severe climate change. However, with a tradition of resilience, solidarity and aspiration for development, the Party Committee, government and people of Quang Tri province have strived to rise up, achieved many important achievements, left a strong mark in many fields, creating a solid premise for a new stage of development.

Strong mark in many fields

During the term, the province's economy maintained a fairly good growth rate, with an average GRDP growth rate of 6.8% per year. By 2025, the total GRDP of the province is estimated to reach nearly 145 trillion VND, 1.5 times higher than in 2020; GRDP per capita is about 79.1 million VND, an increase of 1.6 times compared to the beginning of the term. State budget revenue is 11,500 billion VND, 1.8 times higher than in 2020.

The economic structure has shifted positively, in which industry, construction and services account for over 80%. Agriculture has been strongly restructured towards high technology, ecology and climate change adaptation; the rate of communes meeting new rural standards has reached 85%. Many OCOP products have affirmed their position in the market, contributing to increasing people's income. The implementation of national target programs, especially the new rural construction and sustainable poverty reduction programs, has shortened the development gap between regions, strengthening people's trust in the Party and the government.

An important highlight is the flourishing border gate economy. Lao Bao, La Lay and Cha Lo international border gates have become important trading hubs on the East-West Economic Corridor, with import-export turnover of billions of USD each year. Border gate activities not only bring in budget revenue but also promote border trade and logistics services, creating a driving force for development. At the same time, the border gate economy contributes to expanding cooperation in the Greater Mekong Sub-region, affirming the province's strategic position in the North Central and Central regions.

Investment attraction has marked many remarkable steps forward. The Southeast Quang Tri Economic Zone is gradually defining its role as an industrial-energy-seaport service center, focusing on many dynamic projects such as LNG power, thermal power, and supporting industries. The Hon La Economic Zone continues to expand, attracting heavy industry, seaport service, and logistics projects. Quang Tri Industrial Park is attracting the attention of many investors. During the term, hundreds of new projects were licensed, with a total registered capital of hundreds of thousands of billions of VND; the infrastructure of industrial parks and clusters has been invested in a basically synchronous manner, creating more jobs and encouraging the development of processing and manufacturing industries.

The goal of forming an energy center in the Central region is gradually becoming a reality, and the renewable energy sector has become a bright spot in the development picture. In the Western region of Quang Tri, wind power fields stretching from Huong Hiep, Huong Linh, Huong Phung, Huong Tan, Khe Sanh to Lao Bao, stretching out in the middle of the Truong Son range, have become a new symbol of vitality and the desire to conquer nature. Meanwhile, along the coast from Hong Thuy to Hai Ninh, coastal wind power projects are also developing strongly, combined with solar power and hydropower, creating a diverse and sustainable energy ecosystem. Gradually shaping the role of a clean energy center in the Central region.

Tourism continues to develop significantly, gradually becoming a key economic sector. The province focuses on investing in infrastructure and services for historical, spiritual, and ecological sites such as Quang Tri Ancient Citadel, Truong Son National Martyrs' Cemetery, Vinh Moc Tunnels, Cua Tung Beach, Cua Viet Beach, Con Co Island, etc. At the same time, it focuses on affirming the national and international tourism brand with the "cave kingdom" Phong Nha-Ke Bang, Nhat Le Beach, Bang Stream and many new experiential tourism products. The connection and connection between the province's inherent potential and advantages have helped tourism promote its comprehensive strengths, from history, spirituality to islands and caves, gradually affirming its brand on the domestic and regional tourism map.

Along with economic development, many advances have been made in the cultural and social fields. The poverty rate has decreased by an average of 1% per year; the average life expectancy has reached 74 years; the high school graduation rate has remained above 98%. Attention has been paid to education, health care, and social security; the material and spiritual life of the people has continuously improved. National defense and security have been firmly consolidated; sovereignty over borders and islands has been protected. Foreign affairs have been expanded, especially cooperation through the East-West Economic Corridor, creating favorable conditions for trade, attracting investment, and enhancing international cooperation.

Party building and political system - the foundation for development

The work of building the Party and the political system has been strongly innovated. The leadership capacity and fighting strength of grassroots party organizations have been enhanced. The leadership method of the Party Committee has been constantly innovated. The government apparatus has been streamlined, operating effectively and efficiently. The contingent of cadres, civil servants and public employees has political mettle, qualities and capacity, meeting the requirements of the task. Discipline and administrative discipline have been tightened; administrative reform has achieved many results, with more than 1,000 level 4 online public services, creating maximum convenience for people and businesses.

Looking back at a term, we can clearly see the mark on each stage of development: From wind turbines rising high in the Truong Son range to wind power towers catching the East Sea wind; from the excitement of Lao Bao, La Lay, Cha Lo International Border Gate to economic zones and industrial parks welcoming new investment capital; from newly developed rural villages to the tourism industry transforming into a spearhead economic sector. In particular, My Thuy deep-water port and Hon La port are opening the door to the sea, connecting international trade, creating the premise to form an important logistics center of the Central region on the East-West Economic Corridor.

These achievements are not only the result of the creative leadership of the Party and the government, but also the crystallization of the strength of solidarity, the spirit of daring to think, daring to do, and the aspiration to rise of the people of the province. That is a solid foundation for Quang Tri to enter a new development phase after the merger, a phase of green economy, digital economy, and circular economy with the goal of becoming a new growth pole of the Central region, a land rich in identity and full of aspirations.
