Launching ceremony of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong's book "Building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity"

On the afternoon of June 21, in Hanoi, the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the National Political Publishing House jointly organized the launching ceremony of the book "Building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity" by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong.

The ceremony was chaired by Politburo members: Standing member of the Secretariat Luong Cuong, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia; Party Central Committee members: Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Van Hung; Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Lai Xuan Mon.

The book "Building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity" by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong was edited and published by the Central Propaganda Department in coordination with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the National Political Publishing House Truth, Communist Magazine, Vietnam News Agency and relevant agencies.

Worked on since March 2023, the book was completed and launched on the occasion of the 99th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Press Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2024).

The book selects 92 articles, speeches, talks, notes, interviews, letters... of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on building and developing Vietnamese culture, of which the earliest article is from 1968.

The content of the speeches and articles shows the General Secretary's deep concern for building, preserving and developing Vietnamese culture with traditional and modern elements, identity and integration, creating endogenous resources and mobilizing the strength of Vietnamese culture and people in the cause of building and developing a prosperous and happy country.

Comrade Luong Cuong, Politburo member, Standing member of the Secretariat and Comrade Nguyen Trong Nghia, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Propaganda Department visited the book exhibition area.

The book consists of three parts. The first part: Culture is the soul of the nation, includes 19 speeches and articles by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Cultural Conference implementing the Resolution of the 13th National Congress of the Party, the Central Executive Committee Conference, the National Conference on Ideological and Cultural Work, the National Propaganda Conference...

With convincing arguments, rich and vivid evidence, he specifically explained the connotation of the concept of building an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity; analyzed the role and especially important position of culture in the cause of building and defending the Fatherland; goals, tasks and solutions to fully and comprehensively promote cultural values.

Part two: Comprehensive and synchronous development so that culture is truly an endogenous strength and a driving force for sustainable national development, selecting 73 speeches, articles, and letters of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong on cultural fields as well as the process of building and developing cultural agencies.

With rich practice and sharp theoretical thinking, and a deep understanding of the characteristics of each type of culture, the General Secretary has given comprehensive instructions to the fields of literature, art; education, training; science, technology; press, publishing, etc.

Part three: From the cultural arguments of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong to real life, 32 articles are selected, interviews with cadres, party members and people are answered in research, study and implementation, concretizing the Party's policies and guidelines, and the guidance of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong at the National Cultural Conference, associated with building a national value system, a cultural value system, a family value system and standards for Vietnamese people.

Comrade Nguyen Xuan Thang, Politburo member, Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council and Comrade Le Minh Hung, Politburo member, Secretary of the Party Central Committee, Head of the Central Organizing Committee presented books to leaders of central agencies.

The book also selects more than 90 precious documentary photos, recording images of the General Secretary in cultural activities; visits and working sessions with localities, agencies and units in the cultural sector; meetings with artists and intellectuals across the country.

As an outstanding leader of the Party and a culturalist, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong always pays special attention and devotes much enthusiasm to the cause of building and developing Vietnamese culture and people - a central issue, a strategic breakthrough, a spiritual foundation, a driving force and an endogenous resource for the cause of building and developing the country.

At the same time, he also paid attention to directing practical solutions from general issues to specific fields and aspects of culture.

At the ceremony, Deputy Head of the Central Propaganda Department Lai Xuan Mon emphasized that the book by General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong has important theoretical and practical values ​​for the cause of building and developing Vietnamese culture and people in particular, and for the cause of building and defending the socialist Vietnamese Fatherland in general.

The book's content also deeply and vividly depicts the noble, simple, and close cultural personality of General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong. This is a valuable "handbook" on the culture of our cadres, party members, and people in the cause of building and developing an advanced Vietnamese culture imbued with national identity.

Associate Professor, Dr. Vu Trong Lam, Director - Editor-in-Chief of the National Political Publishing House, affirmed that organizing the editing and publishing of the General Secretary's book is an important task, a great responsibility, and at the same time an honor for the agencies assigned to the task, including the National Political Publishing House, Truth. At the same time, immediately after the book launch ceremony, the Publishing House will urgently coordinate with relevant agencies to translate the book's content into many foreign languages, contributing to spreading Vietnamese cultural values ​​to the world.

Directing at the ceremony, Head of the Central Propaganda Department Nguyen Trong Nghia requested that in the coming time, the Central Propaganda Department will preside over and coordinate with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of Information and Communications, the National Political Publishing House Truth and press agencies to focus on propagating and introducing the book's content to a large number of cadres, party members and people of all walks of life in many diverse, practical and suitable forms.

The Party Executive Committee of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism presides over and coordinates with relevant agencies, the Central Association of Literature and Arts and its member associations, to organize units and staff, party members and members to study and thoroughly grasp the book's content; widely propagate the book's content among intellectuals, scientists, artists and writers nationwide and concretize it in the organization and implementation of tasks.
