Improve the fighting spirit of soldiers
Being present at the training ground of Brigade 101 in the early days of July, we clearly felt the urgent and serious training atmosphere. Under the scorching sun of Cam Ranh sea ( Khanh Hoa ), each officer and soldier diligently trained with the determination to achieve the highest results in each training category.
At the unit's training area, Lieutenant Colonel Do Ngoc Quy, Battalion Commander of the 867th Tank Battalion, directly presided over the lesson plan of a training course. The simulated training situation was deployed close to actual combat, requiring the unit to coordinate closely, practice force maneuvers, march down to ships and master combat plans at sea.

The Marine Corps unit has a high training intensity and harsh training environment, requiring each soldier to not only have a good physical foundation but also have a strong will and character. Captain Ho Minh Tuan, Deputy Battalion Commander of the 863rd Marine Mechanized Battalion, said: "We regularly organize comprehensive inspections, from the preparation of documents and lesson plans to practical training in the field. Each training content is closely monitored, ensuring that soldiers have a firm grasp of theory and are proficient in practice."
Chatting with us during the break, Private Dang Dang Khoa, a soldier of Squad 2, Platoon 1 (Company 2, Marine Mechanized Battalion 863) shared: “My task in the course is to maneuver with the vehicle, quickly take up position and deploy to combat. To meet that requirement, in addition to regular training hours, I regularly train myself physically by running long distances, combined with practicing soccer and badminton. In particular, the unit's weekly armed runs and concentrated marches help me increase my endurance and stamina.”
According to Captain Nguyen Duc Quan, Captain of Company 2, Mechanized Marine Battalion 863, the training content for attacking coastal and island defenses requires close coordination and skillful technical and tactical skills of each individual. Therefore, the unit determined that the training must gradually increase the difficulty, focusing on practice, training each person, each group, and each specific combat situation.
Proactive, creative, overcoming difficulties and rising up
Sharing about the training process, Lieutenant Colonel Tran Quang Phu, Deputy Brigade Commander, Chief of Staff of Brigade 101, said: "The Brigade has always received close attention, leadership, and direction from the Party Committee and the Command of Naval Region 4. Internal solidarity, unity, and the spirit of democracy have been promoted, creating a combined strength for the unit to overcome all difficulties and successfully complete its tasks."

In fact, the training tasks of the units of Brigade 101 always pose high requirements. The specialized subjects of the Marine Corps are often organized in harsh weather conditions, with limited specialized training grounds, technical equipment after many years of use and often affected by the marine and island environment with high humidity and salinity. At times, the unit has to carry out many intertwined tasks such as training new soldiers, outdoor training combined with combat readiness, organizing live-fire combat exercises...
Overcoming these obstacles, the Party Committee and the command of Brigade 101 proposed many appropriate solutions and organized flexible and creative implementation. Training consultation work was focused on right from the planning stage, organizing training for cadres, fostering the teaching staff, and approving lesson plans to ensure consistency and quality. The emulation movement to promote initiatives and technical improvements was promoted, contributing to overcoming difficulties in facilities and teaching aid models.
Agencies and units also regularly disseminate to troops the importance and significance of training tasks; encourage thinking, enhance determination, and overcome fear of difficulties and hardships. Activities to promote training grounds and promote emulation are organized in a rich manner, creating a vibrant competitive atmosphere. Logistics and technical support work is also focused on, strictly maintaining the preservation and maintenance regimes of weapons and equipment, ensuring the best technical coefficients for training and combat readiness tasks.
Thanks to synchronous and effective solutions, the training quality of the Brigade is increasingly improved. In the period 2020-2025, the annual training results reached 100% of the requirements, of which 84.5% were good and excellent (an increase of 2.34% compared to the previous period). Brigade 101 has been awarded the title "Excellent Training Unit" by the Ministry of National Defense and the Navy for many consecutive years.
To maintain the title of "Excellent Training Unit" and build a strong, comprehensive, "exemplary, typical" unit, in the coming time, Brigade 101 will continue to innovate training organization, focusing on training content for landing by sea and air, training close to plans and combat reality, continuing to improve the quality of training will, mettle and physical strength for soldiers.
