(Dan Tri) - Fiumicino International Airport in Rome (Italy) has just opened Dog Relais, one of the first pet hotels in Europe located right on the airport grounds.

According to the Independent, the hotel was created to solve the constant worry of pet owners before each trip: where to leave their dogs in a safe and convenient place.

“This project is part of our strategy to offer a holistic experience to passengers. In this case, we are catering to both dogs and their owners,” said Marilena Blasi, commercial director of Aeroporti di Roma, which manages Fiumicino Airport.

Accordingly, Dog Relais provides services from basic to high-end, even having staff directly pick up dogs at the departure terminal, helping passengers go straight to the departure gate without any worries.

The basic room costs 40 euros (about 1.2 million VND), equipped with air-conditioned floors and a private garden. For shy dogs, the hotel has arranged a separate area, with contact only with staff. At night, the room's speakers play low-frequency 432hz music to help them relax.

In addition to standard services such as bathing and dental hygiene, Dog Relais also offers premium packages including massage with arnica cream, aromatherapy with mint or lavender.

For 60 euros (about 1.7 million VND), guests can rent a premium room equipped with a webcam for 24/7 video calling and an application to "reward" remotely.

Dog Relais is not just for air travelers, but also for Romans who need dog daycare or training. “Since I can bring my dog to the hotel, my life has become more balanced. I can work and travel with absolute peace of mind,” said Alessandra Morelli, 47, a human resources employee at Aeroporti di Roma.

Dario Chiassarini, 32, who works in the automotive industry, also sent his Rottweiler, Athena, for training. “We trust them completely, both because of their professionalism and their love for animals. This is a service we will definitely continue to use,” he said.

The 40-room hotel was fully booked during the peak summer holiday season in August. Since opening in May, the average occupancy rate has been nearly two-thirds.

Notably, at the same time Dog Relais opened, the Italian aviation authority also changed its regulations, allowing large dogs to be carried in the cabin on domestic flights if they have a special cage. Transport Minister Matteo Salvini said this was “a step forward in civilization, although there will certainly be people who are not happy”.
