Long Thanh Airport welcomes first calibration flight

According to VTC News reporters, from early morning on September 26, the runway signal lights were lit, all navigation and landing support equipment was installed and thoroughly inspected.

A representative of the Airports Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) said that preparations for the calibration flight were closely coordinated, ensuring absolute safety.

At exactly 6:00 a.m., the Beechcraft KingAir 300 series aircraft took off from Tan Son Nhat Airport and arrived at Long Thanh Airport at 6:09 a.m. to conduct a series of test flights landing on Long Thanh runway and flight procedures in the airport airspace. After that, the aircraft returned to Ho Chi Minh City.

This is the type of aircraft used by many countries in calibration thanks to its flexible maneuverability and high stability.

The calibration will take place from September 26 to October 24, 2025, and will be directly carried out by Air Traffic Management Engineering Company Limited (ATTECH), a member unit of Vietnam Air Traffic Management Corporation (VATM).

Experienced experts from ATTECH cooperate with international experts from the Czech Air Navigation Academy to ensure objectivity and enhance the reputation of the assessment process.

During this calibration, many important systems of Long Thanh airport were tested, including 2 precision landing systems ILS/DME, VOR/DME navigation system, airport beacons, Radar and ADS-B surveillance systems and related flight methods.

The calibration flight taking off and circling the Long Thanh sky not only has technical significance but also demonstrates the spirit of "overcoming sun and rain, working day and night, even during holidays" of thousands of engineers and workers at the construction site.

The moment the plane circled over Long Thanh sky was a symbol of perseverance and determination to bring Vietnam's largest airport to its destination on time.

Long Thanh Airport is planned to become a modern aviation center with a designed capacity of 100 million passengers per year. According to the plan, the project will be basically completed by the end of 2025 and put into commercial operation in the first half of 2026.

The first calibration flight on the morning of September 26 is a signal that the dream of a regional-scale international airport in Vietnam is gradually becoming a reality, opening up strong development opportunities for the country in the future.
