On the afternoon of January 10, Mr. Le Van Dung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, and Mr. Tran Nam Hung, Vice Chairman of the People's Committee of the province, chaired a press conference to inform about the socio -economic situation in 2024 and orientation for 2025.

At the press conference, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province reviewed some features of the province's socio-economic picture with many bright colors, despite facing many difficulties.

According to Mr. Le Van Dung, in 2024, although the COVID-19 epidemic has passed, its consequences are still very severe, greatly affecting the province's economy. In addition, the province must overcome violations according to the conclusions of the Central Inspection Committee with a large amount of work; transfer and arrange officials in many departments and branches; for almost the first 6 months of the year, there was no Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee, and 2 Vice Chairmen of the Provincial People's Committee were missing.

Up to this point, Quang Nam's growth for the whole year of 2024 reached 7.1%.

In 2024, Quang Nam was honored by world organizations with many awards for tourism and culture; the number of visitors to Quang Nam increased impressively with more than 8 million arrivals, surpassing the peak period before the pandemic in 2019.

“There was a time when budget revenue seemed to be unachievable when the brewery closed and land revenue froze, but by the end of 2024, Quang Nam collected more than 27,594 billion VND, exceeding the set estimate” – the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province was excited.

Quang Nam province has paid attention to implementing social security policies, taking care of policy beneficiaries, poor households, etc., which have been highly appreciated by public opinion, especially the policy of exempting and reducing tuition fees for students in the whole province.

In 2024, Quang Nam focused on administrative reform and tightened discipline, which has begun to put things in order. According to the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province, besides the achievements, the province's economy still has many bottlenecks, many enterprises are facing difficulties that have not been thoroughly resolved, and investment capital disbursement is slow.

Along with that, the social order situation, gambling, black credit, drugs are becoming more complicated, almost every karaoke bar inspected has drugs. "I have thoroughly communicated the viewpoint to the Provincial Police, if any bar is inspected and drugs are found, the license must be revoked immediately" - Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province resolutely.

Responding to reporters' questions, the Chairman of the Quang Nam Provincial People's Committee said that up to now, no one in the province has voluntarily submitted a resignation letter to streamline the apparatus. However, Mr. Dung is confident that in the near future, there will be many people requesting to retire. Because currently, the support policy for those who voluntarily request to retire early is very high, the Central Government has a very open policy mechanism.
