Coteccons boss talks about the Cambodian market: Going out means accepting risks

(Dan Tri) - At the general meeting, shareholders were concerned about the company's move abroad (the strategy is called Go Global), as the world political scene is currently experiencing many fluctuations.

On the morning of October 20, Coteccons Construction Joint Stock Company (stock code: CTD) held the 2025 annual general meeting of shareholders.

Here, the company reported to shareholders on its financial situation in 2025 (from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025). Of which, the company's net revenue reached VND 24,885 billion - an increase of 18% over the same period. After deducting expenses, Coteccons' after-tax profit was VND 456 billion - an increase of 47% and slightly exceeding the set plan.

Issue more than 5 million bonus shares to shareholders

With the above results, the company will issue 5.1 million bonus shares to shareholders, using capital from the development investment fund. The expected implementation period is from July 1, 2026 to June 30, 2027, or another time according to the decision of the Board of Directors.

Coteccons also presented shareholders with a business plan for the 2026 fiscal year (from July 1, 2025 to June 30, 2026) with revenue of VND30,000 billion and profit after tax of VND700 billion, up 21% and 54% respectively over the same period.

The board of directors shared that the company's revenue in the first quarter reached 7,400 billion VND, a growth of 56.6%, with backlog (unrealized contract value) reaching 51,600 billion VND.

In the period 2025-2029, Coteccons aims to increase revenue by an average of 20-30% per year. Coteccons aims to participate in public investment projects in Vietnam and expand to the international market.

Shareholders are concerned about the company's move abroad (the strategy is called Go Global), as the world political scene is currently very volatile.

According to Chairman Bolat Duisenov, the company has so far completed projects in Myanmar, Laos and most recently in southern India. In addition, Coteccons has taken on three large-scale projects in Taiwan, and has been licensed to operate in the US and has signed its first contracts there. The company has also just launched a project in Kazakhstan and is completing procedures to start construction in Saudi Arabia.

As for the Cambodian market - where there have been notable fluctuations in recent days - Coteccons leaders admit that going out into the world means accepting risks.

“Not only Cambodia, the Go Global strategy will also have many risks from politics to issues such as labor, supply chain, operations, management... However, the company has a risk control board to analyze the issues, ensuring a steady step into foreign markets,” said a company representative.

As of June 30, Coteccons' total assets reached VND29,701 billion, an increase of VND6,833 billion after 1 year. Of which, cash and bank deposits reached VND4,187 billion, accounting for 14%. Most of the assets are short-term receivables with a value of VND15,870 billion, equivalent to 53%.

In terms of capital, the company has 20,736 billion VND in liabilities, mainly short-term payables to sellers and buyers, reaching 12,348 billion VND. Loans account for a low proportion, at 2,987 billion VND. If the amount of cash held is subtracted, Coteccons' net debt is 0.

Equity reached VND 8,965 billion, of which development investment fund was VND 4,419 billion and undistributed accumulated profit reached VND 1,054 billion.
