Singapore is about to have a new prime minister.

Singapore Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong will step down on May 15 and nominate Deputy Prime Minister Lawrence Wong as his successor, the Singapore Prime Minister's Office announced on April 15.

According to the announcement, Mr. Lee Hsien Loong, 72 years old, will officially submit to the President of Singapore to nominate Mr. Wong as his successor. Mr. Wong is currently the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of Singapore. The announcement clearly stated that Mr. Wong received absolute support from MPs in the ruling People's Action Party (PAP) and will take office on May 15.

Immediately after the announcement from the Prime Minister's Office, Mr. Wong also confirmed that he will succeed Mr. Lee Hsien Loong and work with the highest sense of responsibility.
