At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) earlier this year, Google introduced Gemini, a replacement for Google Assistant that provides content recommendations based on natural language interactions. In May, at its own Android event, Google announced that Gemini would be deployed first on TCL Smart TVs later this year.

This is exactly what happened when TCL launched the QD-Mini QM9K LED TV at IFA 2025, the first Google TV model to integrate Gemini and Ambient Display technology. Ambient Display technology allows the TV to automatically turn on when someone comes, display a screen saver wallpaper and answer questions by voice. The built-in mmWave sensor helps the TV detect presence and automatically turn on/off when someone is in the room. Users can adjust the detection distance and standby time of the TV.
Enhance your TV experience with Gemini
The QM9K TV is equipped with far-field microphones that allow users to interact with Gemini right from the sofa. Highlights include content search, voice control of smart homes and daily routine assistance. Gemini Event improves search capabilities, allowing users to ask questions like "What romantic movie can I watch in less than two hours?"
TCL's new TV also allows users to create their own AI wallpapers and provide voice news summaries. Gemini will respond based on the active Google TV profile, thereby providing a personalized experience for each user.

In terms of specifications, the QM9K is part of TCL's ULTIMATE series, with a CrystGlow WHVA panel for ultra-wide color viewing angles. The TV has a 4K resolution (3,840 x 2,160), a 144Hz refresh rate, and an anti-reflective coating. HDR peak brightness is up to HDR6500, along with precise local dimming zones up to LD6000.
Both the QM9K and QM8K are equipped with the TCL AiPQ Pro processor, support for multiple HDR formats, and built-in Bang & Olufsen speakers. The TV's connectivity includes multiple HDMI ports, USB, and Wi-Fi 6 support.
The TCL QM9K series will be available at Best Buy and other retailers later this month, but pricing information has not yet been announced. TCL also said the QM8K series will integrate Gemini features, but a specific timeframe has not been given. Additionally, information about Gemini integration with other Google TV devices has not been confirmed.
