On September 26, the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health held a conference to announce the results of implementing electronic medical records and standardizing the city's health sector's data warehouse. This is considered an important milestone in the digital transformation process of the health sector, contributing to modernizing management, reducing administrative procedures and improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for people.
Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health Tang Chi Thuong said that the city currently has the largest health care system in the country with 164 hospitals, 38 health centers, 168 commune health stations, 296 stations and more than 10,600 clinics. In the context of large scale and diversity, the simultaneous implementation of electronic medical records on schedule is a huge challenge.

Most hospitals choose to hire IT services to optimize costs. In the coming time, the Department of Health will continue to expand the deployment to all medical facilities, perfect the centralized data warehouse, ensure safety and security, and promote the application of artificial intelligence and big data analysis in disease forecasting, scientific research and administration.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Nguyen Phuoc Loc - Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee, Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City praised the efforts of the city's health sector, affirming that the implementation of electronic medical records associated with a common data warehouse is a clear demonstration of the pioneering spirit in implementing Resolution 72. The Deputy Secretary of the City Party Committee emphasized that electronic medical records help reduce procedures, shorten the time for medical examination and treatment, increase transparency, and at the same time create a comprehensive picture of public health for policy making and forecasting health trends.

At the same time, it is necessary to expand the coverage of electronic health records for the elderly, children and women, thereby building a smart health ecosystem, serving the goal of developing Ho Chi Minh City into a smart, modern and livable city.
