Singer Hong Hanh was once a famous name, one of the muses of musician Trinh Cong Son and was known as "Queen of Saigon pop music" in the 1990s.
Few people know that, besides singing, she is also a top businesswoman.
In 1991, Hong Hanh and her ex-husband, Mr. Kondo Koji, opened their first Japanese restaurant. Three years later, they opened another restaurant, named after their son, Hong Nhat, on Nam Ky Khoi Nghia Street. These are the two most successful restaurants, not to mention a few other small restaurants and eateries.
In 2007, Hong Hanh and her ex-husband returned the Nam Ky Khoi Nghia premises and moved into the restaurant business in the New World hotel.
"I opened almost every restaurant and it was successful. I closed down the ones that weren't successful. Throughout those years, despite the economic ups and downs, the business was generally profitable thanks to the high quality of its food service," she said.

In 2015, Kondo's health declined, and they had differences in business views.
Hong Hanh did not want to continue working for someone else, so she planned to separate and use the house on Tu Xuong Street, District 3 - bought in 2001 for several million USD - to open her own restaurant while Kondo wanted to continue working at New World.
Seeing her ex-husband's determination, Hong Hanh stopped running the restaurant, rented out the house and returned to music . After making a few CDs, she opened a cafe with a singing model so that friends could have a place to exchange music.
Since then, Hong Hanh has not done any business, and in recent years has rarely appeared or sung; living on rent.
A real estate expert told VietNamNet that according to market prices, Hong Hanh’s house on Tu Xuong Street could be rented for 120 million VND/month. The actual figure will be decided by the singer and the lessee.

In addition to this house, Hong Hanh also owns some valuable real estate. For her, buying a house or land depends on fate. She intended to buy many houses to live in but ended up having to sell them, and each time she made a profit.
The rare piece of land that is "fateful" enough for Hong Hanh is located next to Long Hai beach (Long Hai commune, Ho Chi Minh City). Here, she designed a container house (a type of house made from a shipping container - PV) as a resort.
Every time he returns to Long Hai, the 60-year-old singer's life revolves around swimming and relaxing, breathing in the fresh air during the day and listening to the sound of the waves at night.
Although the income from renting the house is quite abundant, Hong Hanh is still used to a simple lifestyle, with few needs and no extravagance.
"At this age, I don't think about money anymore. For many years, I have been less visible but still live well thanks to my ability to save. I am the type of woman who knows how to take care of her family and also knows the value of gold and dollars," she laughed as she commented to herself.
