Soc Trang joins hands with the whole country for the poor

It is not only a slogan but has been concretized into practical activities of the Party Committee, the government, the Fatherland Front and socio-political organizations at all levels in Soc Trang province. One of the meaningful activities in recent times has contributed significantly to the province's social security policy.

Poor people effectively access social security policies

In Soc Trang, through the implementation of the emulation movement "for the poor, leaving no one behind" in the period of 2021 - 2025, it shows that Party committees and authorities at all levels have correctly and deeply recognized the meaning and importance of the movement, making poverty reduction a central task, regularly and actively propagating and mobilizing to become a common movement in the whole society. With the active participation of all levels and sectors in the province, poverty reduction support programs and projects have been deployed and implemented effectively; the work of caring for the poor not only relies on local resources but also mobilizes the participation of a wide range of people inside and outside the province.

In addition, through the implementation of poverty reduction work, many typical models and effective initiatives have been built and replicated in localities, in which the most prominent models are: members and farmers in Cu Lao Dung district actively support each other, through the dissemination of business experiences, support for plants and seeds, creating jobs on the spot for members and farmers with 1,568 working days and seeds, capital worth 768.9 million VND; Women's Union members in Tran De district established women's mutual support groups, women's savings groups, women's groups raising piggy banks, saving in spending, effective business models; the models "Grains of Gratitude" in Gia Hoa 2 commune, the model "Joining hands for the poor", "Kindness Group" in Ngoc To commune of My Xuyen district have practically operated to support food, necessities, and housing for poor households in the area.

Many typical models and effective initiatives have been built and replicated in localities.

Sharing about the policies to support the poor in recent years, Mr. Vo Thanh Quang - Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs of Soc Trang province said that the whole province has well implemented social security policies, promptly supported and helped disadvantaged people overcome difficult times, stabilize their lives, especially during the period affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, specifically: implementing support for people facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the province is 419,990,300,000 VND, including: supporting 1,379 enterprises, the amount of 29,091,040,000 VND (of which, reducing social insurance contributions by 26,184,000,000 VND); supporting 14,270 business households, the amount of 42,810,000,000 VND; Supported 281,179 workers, with an amount of VND 348,089,300,000, of which 122,444 were freelance workers, with an amount of VND 183,666,000,000; provided rice support to 501,142 people, poor households, near-poor households, and social protection beneficiaries facing difficulties due to the Covid-19 pandemic in the area, with 7,517 tons of rice, with an implementation cost of over VND 105 billion; organized a campaign to mobilize gifts, food, goods and equipment for epidemic prevention and control; supported people in the province and carried out 07 charity trips to transport food, agricultural products to support people living in Ho Chi Minh City facing difficulties affected by the Covid-19 pandemic with a total value of over VND 58 billion.

Soc Trang workers effectively use credit capital employment policy

Implementing the social protection assistance policy according to Decree 20/2021/ND-CP dated March 15, 2021 of the Government stipulating the social assistance policy for social protection subjects, the whole province has provided monthly subsidies to 46,366 social protection subjects, including: regular subsidies for 43,314 subjects, fostering and caring for 2,942 subjects in the community and supporting 110 subjects for care and nurturing at the Social Protection Center, with a budget of more than 290 billion VND/year; issuing 33,716 health insurance cards to social protection subjects. Ensuring that 100% of disadvantaged subjects according to the criteria specified in Article 4 of Resolution No. 10/2021/NQ-HDND of the Provincial People's Council receive regular subsidies and occasional subsidies in the community. The whole province has provided monthly allowances to 2,113 beneficiaries, emergency assistance to 05 beneficiaries and funeral support to 15 beneficiaries, with a budget of more than 4 billion VND.

Effectively implement programs and projects on production development and restructuring of crops and livestock.

The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committees at all levels coordinate to implement the emulation movement for economic development, helping each other to sustainably reduce poverty with many practical and specific methods such as: Propagating and mobilizing union members, association members and people of all walks of life to change the structure of crops and livestock, expanding the scale of agricultural, forestry and service production, boldly investing, applying scientific and technical advances in production. Thereby, many effective models and creative methods have emerged such as: 09 economic production models; 13 poverty reduction models; Models of "Raising Sind crossbred cows", "Raising dairy cows", "Raising chickens in the direction of biological safety", Growing fruit trees and safe vegetables in greenhouses", "Reducing fertilizers and pesticides in production", "Producing safe vegetables" model using automatic irrigation technology to increase yield per unit of cultivated area...

At the same time, implementing the socialization of social security work, Party committees and authorities at all levels, together with the Fatherland Front system, have mobilized the participation and support of individuals and organizations inside and outside the province. From the mobilized resources, many meaningful activities have been implemented, bringing practical results, specifically: supporting 160 water tanks, 154 bicycles to support people affected by saltwater intrusion, poor students with a value of over 150 million VND; supporting 19 households affected by tornadoes, 86 cases of poor households whose houses were damaged by fire, 01 person killed by falling trees, 08 cases of serious illness; supporting 77 poor students.

Mr. Thach Chanh Do Ra, Khmer ethnic group (Chau Thanh, Soc Trang) has been successful with the integrated farming model.

From the funding support from the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, units and localities have organized and implemented effective production models of production development models such as: "Supporting breeding cows among Khmer ethnic people" in Ward 2 (Vinh Chau town); supporting 50 breeding cows to implement the model "Sustainable poverty reduction" for poor people in coastal border areas in Cu Lao Dung, Tran De districts and Vinh Chau town; model of 30 breeding cows for poor, near-poor, and newly escaped-poverty households in Long Phu commune, 50 breeding cows for ethnic minority households in Long Phu district.

According to the Director of the Department of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs, Vo Thanh Quang, in the coming time, Soc Trang province will continue to promote and improve the quality of the emulation movement "for the poor, leaving no one behind", promoting the spirit of solidarity and the combined strength of the entire political system, the whole society and the community; pay attention to building and replicating models, initiatives, and typical examples in sustainable poverty reduction work; at the same time, well implementing the commendation of typical examples in the emulation movement; striving to achieve the poverty reduction target according to the set plan.
