The history of the Vietnamese people is inherently not just the rounded letters in books, nor is it simply pieces from the past, or recorded past events. On the contrary, history is like the source of life, intricately woven into every fiber of the earth. History has condensed into blood, flowing through the veins of people for thousands of years and will continue for thousands of years to come. In that historical chronicle, there are painful chapters when the country was engulfed in the flames of war or under the yoke of slavery; there are heroic chapters when the whole country rose up against foreign invaders, to assert sovereignty and regain independence and freedom for the nation. And whether painful or heroic, there is a historical lesson paid for in blood and that we cannot afford to neglect: the lesson of the spirit of great national unity.
Vietnam is located in an important geopolitical position, placed in the relationship between countries on the Asian continent in general, and Southeast Asia in particular. Also because it is an important strategic area, and is famous for its rich forests, silver seas, and resources, since ancient times, foreign invaders have harbored ambitions and repeatedly waged wars of aggression, hoping to seize our country's territory. This has caused our people constant challenges and dangers with two types of enemies: natural disasters and foreign invaders. However, with the spirit of solidarity "One tree cannot make a forest/ Three trees together can make a high mountain" and compassion "Many red silk covers the mirror/ People in the same country must love each other", our people have bravely overcome all challenges of natural disasters and enemies, to firmly maintain the Fatherland's borders.
The tradition of great solidarity originated from the era of the Hung Kings who founded the country, was inherited through the Dinh, Ly, Tran, and Le dynasties to fight against the feudal forces of the North, and was raised to a new level, with new values in the Ho Chi Minh era. Talking about the strength of the spirit of great national solidarity, President Ho Chi Minh had the immortal saying: "Solidarity, solidarity, great solidarity/ Success, success, great success". This is also the source for under the talented and wise leadership of the glorious Party and the great President Ho Chi Minh, our people rose up, broke the chains of slavery of nearly a century of French colonialism and carried out a long march for decades to defeat the most powerful foreign invaders in the world. From there, a solid foundation was laid for reshaping the national map, affirming inviolable sovereignty and building a "more dignified and beautiful" Vietnam.
A vivid demonstration of the strength of the spirit of great national unity in the Ho Chi Minh era was the August Revolution in 1945, whose victory created a “heaven-shaking” change in the position of the nation. In the process of moving towards the August Revolution, our Party advocated building political forces first to serve as the basis for building the armed and semi-armed forces of the People. Since the Japanese army overthrew the French government, our Party took advantage of the opportunity, changed direction in time, and launched a high tide of resistance against Japan and national salvation. This was a period of vigorous and vigorous mobilization of the masses, developing political forces extensively in rural and urban areas, plains and mountains, combined with the development of armed forces, preparing all aspects for the general uprising. At the same time, the Party also closely combined forms of struggle, guerrilla warfare, mass uprisings, destroying rice warehouses to solve famine, destroying the Japanese and eliminating traitors..., pushing the enemy into a state of confusion, passivity and disintegration. Thanks to that, the revolutionary fire rose to an unprecedented height, contributing to creating ripe subjective and objective conditions for the August 1945 General Uprising to be completely victorious.

The victory of the August Revolution was the victory of the line of gathering all patriotic forces, uniting all ethnic groups, consolidating the entire people under the banner of national liberation; organizing the people into a powerful political army on the basis of the worker-peasant alliance. It was the victory of the line of resolute and clever struggle using all forms of revolutionary violence; combining politics and armed forces, in which the political force of the masses plays a decisive role; combining rural and urban areas; combining all forms of legal and illegal struggle, from low to high, from partial uprisings to general uprisings...
The success of the August Revolution opened a new era: the era of Vietnam for the Vietnamese people, where the Vietnamese people are the masters of the country's destiny and their own destiny. And especially, the victory of the August Revolution is also the victory of building a new type of Party of the working class, armed with Marxism-Leninism in a semi-feudal colonial country. From there, it ensures that the Party always has the right political line, has unified thoughts and actions, and has a high-quality, clean, strong Party organization that is deeply rooted in the masses.
The August Revolution is considered the result of the inevitable development of national history and the pinnacle of the indomitable will, the strength of community cohesion, the intellectual height of the nation combined with the thoughts of Marx, Engels, Lenin, and Ho Chi Minh. With this great revolution, the Fatherland of Vietnam, from being erased from the world map, has become the Democratic Republic of Vietnam - the first worker-peasant state in the region; from the status of slaves, each Vietnamese citizen has become the subject of creating new pages of history for themselves. Then, the determination to protect the independence and peace of the nation, happiness and prosperity for the people, has become the reason for living, the "command of the heart" of every patriotic Vietnamese.
Every lesson learned from the history of the nation is a lesson of blood, sweat and tears of many generations. Therefore, along with the lesson of the spirit of great solidarity, there is still a valuable lesson that history has been teaching us, that is, if we want a bright future, we must never forget the past - our roots.
