Sun Group starts project to "activate" Da Nang Free Trade Zone

On the afternoon of August 27, at Ba Na commune, Sun Group Corporation coordinated with the People's Committee of Da Nang City to organize the launching and groundbreaking ceremony of the following projects: Investment in construction and business of infrastructure of functional area No. 5, in Da Nang City Free Trade Zone; Ba Na Cable Car Line No. 9 Project; Project of high-class resort hotel complex, entertainment area, multi-purpose performance house (in the Ba Na - Suoi Mo Eco -tourism and Urban Area complex).

The meaningful event is part of the activities to celebrate the 80th anniversary of National Day and the 23rd Congress of the Da Nang City Party Committee.

Mr. Nguyen Van Binh, Chairman of Sun Group in the Central region, shared that Da Nang has been expanding its development space with the vision of bringing Quang Da land to the open sea, seizing the historical opportunity after the merger, moving towards building a leading economic, cultural and innovation center in the region, carrying national strength in the new era, as General Secretary To Lam once advised.

With that historic mission, today's launch event has a very special meaning on the journey to realize the goal of making Da Nang a pioneer center for dynamic economic institutions, a place to test new mechanisms and policies to integrate the country,” said Mr. Binh.

According to Mr. Binh, along with the launch of the Da Nang Free Trade Zone, today, Sun Group Corporation also officially started construction of 2 important items in the Ba Na - Suoi Mo Eco-tourism and Urban Area complex with a scale of 52,000 billion VND. That is cable car line No. 9 and the complex of high-class resort hotels, entertainment areas, and art performance houses.

These two key projects are considered important pieces, contributing to completing the rich tourism, entertainment and resort ecosystem that Sun Group has been creating in Da Nang. This is also considered a strategic project to realize the goal of developing the night-time economy that the city has set.

When completed, the projects will not only create unique tourism products for Da Nang in the new era, but also contribute to turning the Han River city into a vibrant entertainment center day and night, worthy of the position of a tourism capital of the Central region, so that when tourists mention Da Nang in particular and Vietnam in general, they will remember the symbol of Sun World Ba Na Hills.

Speaking at the event, Mr. Luong Nguyen Minh Triet, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Nang City, said that Da Nang is in a new stage of development with new opportunities. Da Nang is also in the top 10 Asian cities with the highest rate of returning visitors voted by Agoda. After the merger, Da Nang city has expanded its geographical space 10 times, opening up many development opportunities with new potentials. This is not only the expansion of geographical space, but also the connection of cultural, tourism and economic values ​​of the two lands "Quang Da".

Da Nang currently possesses many outstanding advantages in terms of tourism resources and a modern infrastructure system, including an international airport, seaport, road traffic network, and increasingly complete service facilities.

Among the 3 projects that were started today, the Project on Investment, Construction and Business of Infrastructure of Functional Area No. 5 has the meaning of "activating" the Da Nang City Free Trade Zone established under Decision No. 1142/QD-TTg of the Prime Minister. This is a project of special importance, with strategic significance for the city's socio-economic development.

The project is expected to strengthen Da Nang's role as an important trade gateway for the Central region and the whole country, and gradually become an important link in the global supply chain network and the Asia-Pacific region.

Along with that, two projects belonging to the Ba Na - Suoi Mo Eco-tourism and Urban Area complex, including: Cable car line No. 9 and the Tower Block 1 and 2 multi-purpose entertainment and performance buildings will be the projects that contribute to completing the classy and multi-experience ecosystem in Ba Na, meeting the increasing needs of tourists, especially while Da Nang aims to welcome tens of millions of visitors each year.

According to Mr. Triet, with the meaning of celebrating the 80th anniversary of National Day September 2 and the 23rd Congress of the Da Nang City Party Committee, term 2025-2030, the projects started today demonstrate the determination of the city and investors in realizing the construction of Da Nang into a large, ecological, smart, unique, sustainable, international city.
