Work accident at quarry kills driver

On the morning of October 11, Mr. Ung Dinh Hien, Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Tuong commune, Quang Ngai province confirmed that a labor accident had just occurred at a quarry in the area, killing one driver.

Accordingly, at about 2:30 p.m. on October 10, Mr. Phan Viet Tho (born in 1975), permanent resident in Da Nang , driver of Khoi Phat Company (Da Nang), drove a truck with license plate 43C-066.14 to transport stone to Thuong Hoa quarry, Van Tuong commune.

At about 4:30 p.m. the same day, while Mr. Tho was in the truck bed, the excavator driver suddenly dumped rocks into the truck bed, burying Mr. Tho.

About 1 hour later, people discovered the incident and tried to rescue and took Mr. Tho to Quang Nam Central General Hospital for emergency treatment, but he did not survive.

The Chairman of the People's Committee of Van Tuong Commune said that after the accident, the leaders of Thuong Hoa quarry reported the incident to the People's Committee and the Van Tuong Commune Police. That same evening, the family brought Tho's body home to complete the burial procedures.

Authorities are investigating and clarifying the incident.
