The highlight of the round is the "Capital derby" between The Cong-Viettel Club and Hanoi FC at Hang Day Stadium taking place at 7:15 p.m. on December 17.

Considered to be strong candidates for the 2023/24 V-League championship, however, both The Cong-Viettel and Hanoi FC are having a bad start to the new season with only 8 and 6 points respectively after the first 5 rounds and are far behind the top team, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh, on the rankings.

Therefore, the direct confrontation between the two representative clubs of the Capital is an opportunity to change the situation on the rankings, helping the winning team create a score gap with the opponent.

The important Hanoi derby between The Cong-Viettel and Hanoi FC is one of two matches in round 6 of the 2023/24 V-League approved by FIFA to apply VAR video assistant referee technology, along with the home team Dong A Thanh Hoa's reception of Ho Chi Minh City Club at 6 p.m. on December 16.

The Thanh team is unbeaten in the first 5 rounds of the new season (3 wins, 2 draws) and is temporarily ranked 2nd on the rankings with 11 points, only 2 points behind the top team, Thep Xanh Nam Dinh.

The match will take place at 6:00 p.m. on December 15 at Binh Duong Stadium.

The two "former kings" of V-League are at the bottom of the table, Song Lam Nghe An (3 points, ranked 11/14) and LPBank Hoang Anh Gia Lai (2 points, ranked last) will have a direct confrontation in this round.
