Strengthening forest patrols, management and protection on the occasion of September 2nd holiday

Comrade Tong Giang Nam, Party Secretary, and Comrade Nguyen Hoang Minh, Chairman of Da Teh Commune People's Committee inspected the actual forest protection and management work in the area on the occasion of September 2nd holiday.

Holidays are always an opportunity for criminals to take advantage of the Forestry Law to commit violations. Therefore, the work of patrolling, protecting, preventing and fighting forest fires is receiving special attention from the authorities.

In Da Teh commune, during the September 2nd holiday this year, the People's Committee of the commune directed relevant agencies and units to arrange forces on duty and pay special attention to areas at risk of violating the Forestry Law.

Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh, Chairman of the People's Committee of Da Teh commune, said that the unit has a total natural area of 14,584.35 hectares; the forestry planning area is 7,685.99 hectares, accounting for 52.7% of the natural area; the forested land area is 7,854.6 hectares, with a forest cover rate of 53.86%. In Da Teh commune, there are 2 state forest owners with an area of 4,455.88 hectares, of which Cat Tien National Park is 22.01 hectares and Da Teh Forestry One Member Co., Ltd. is 4,433.87 hectares; 8 enterprises rent land and forests to implement forestry investment projects with an area of 2,017.54 hectares; 237 households are allocated land under the forest protection and rural development project with an area of 1,212.57 hectares.

On the other hand, the total area of forest allocated in the commune is 5,334.99 hectares; of which, 339.04 hectares/152 forest owners are households, 1 state forest owner unit, Da Teh Forestry One Member Co., Ltd., allocated 3,779.09 hectares, 8 non-state enterprises allocated an area of 1,216.86 hectares.

Patrolling, protecting, preventing and fighting forest fires are receiving special attention from functional units during the September 2 holiday.

In 2025, the People's Committee of Da Teh commune coordinated with Da Huoai Forest Protection Department and forest owners to develop 16 plans and conduct 64 forest patrols and inspections in the entire commune with 512 participants. In addition, the People's Committee of the commune also coordinated with Forest Protection Group No. 2 - Da Huoai Forest Protection Department to organize more than 40 patrols.

During the September 2nd holiday, the People's Committee of Da Teh commune assigned commune leaders to carry out forest patrols; to direct the Forestry Department, officials and households participating in forest protection contracts to always be on duty 24/7, divided into many teams to carry out patrols, manage and protect the forest. At the same time, concentrate forces to strengthen inspections and suppress violators in forest areas with high risk of encroachment.

According to Mr. Nguyen Hoang Minh, thanks to good forest management and protection, the total number of violations of the Forestry Law in Da Teh commune in the first 8 months of 2025 was only 2 cases, the area of damage due to deforestation was insignificant, and the damaged forest products were 0.202m3 ^of various types of wood.

In Cat Tien 3 commune, forest management and protection work during the September 2 holiday was also strengthened by all levels, authorities and functional units of the commune.

Mr. Tran Quang Trung, Chairman of the People's Committee of Cat Tien 3 Commune, said that the commune currently has a total forest area of 12,680.87 hectares. Of which, the former District Military Command has 663.68 hectares; 14 villages and community groups are contracted to manage 9,878.33 hectares; forest owners are households participating in managing 1,759.18 hectares; the Commune People's Committee directly manages 37.90 hectares and Cat Tien National Park self-manages 341.78 hectares.

Identifying that forest protection is a continuous task, without a single day of rest, the People's Committee of Cat Tien 3 commune has directed agencies and units to coordinate with the forest rangers and forest management units to conduct 24/24-hour patrols, maintain forest protection teams and coordinate with local authorities to prevent illegal logging, exploitation and other harmful activities, ensuring that the forest is continuously protected even during holidays.

In addition, the unit also promotes propaganda and education to raise awareness and responsibility among the people. At the same time, review outstanding cases to focus on handling them thoroughly, combined with propaganda, education, and deterrence, to establish order and discipline in forest management and protection. In addition, coordinate with the police, military, and forest owners to have strong enough measures to prevent, combat, and strictly handle acts of forest encroachment.

In 2025, Cat Tien 3 commune coordinated with Cat Tien National Park to organize community activities to propagate forest management, protection, and forest fire prevention and fighting in the area with the participation of over 191 people. The inspection and forest protection work of forest owners and the Forest Protection Department was maintained and focused on key areas with potential risks of violations. In the first 8 months of the year, 7 violations occurred in the commune; of which, Cat Tien National Park recorded 6 cases/9 subjects, and Da Huoai Forest Protection Department handled 1 case/1 subject.

Units and localities proactively arrange enough forces at forest protection posts and stations during the September 2 holiday.

To strengthen forest management and protection, functional units and localities in Lam Dong province have also issued documents to direct agencies and units to strengthen forest patrolling, management and protection.

In particular, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong directed units and localities to proactively deploy sufficient forces at forest protection posts and stations; assess the situation, identify and delimit key areas at risk of violations.
