Rice prices today, September 22, in the Mekong Delta region, both rice and paddy prices remained unchanged. The market transactions were slow.

Besides, the glutinous rice market has not adjusted compared to yesterday. Long An IR 4625 glutinous rice (dry) 9,700 - 9,900 VND/kg remained unchanged compared to yesterday. Long An 3-month glutinous rice (dry) 9,800 - 10,000 VND/kg remained unchanged compared to yesterday.

Regarding rice, the price of raw IR 504 Summer-Autumn rice is at 10,650 - 10,750 VND/kg. Meanwhile, the price of finished IR 504 rice is around 13,000 - 13,200 VND/kg.

Last week, rice prices in the Mekong Delta provinces continuously increased and decreased in opposite directions. The price of rice increased and decreased the most, with an increase and decrease of 100-200 VND. Similarly, the price of raw rice and finished products also increased by 200-350 VND/kg, while the price of rice decreased the most, by 400-450 VND/kg. The market was stable.

Rice prices have been continuously adjusted up and down over the past week.

Regarding by-products, the prices of various by-products range from 5,750 - 8,600 VND/kg. Currently, the price of OM 5451 broken rice is at 8,500 - 8,600 VND/kg; the price of dry bran is at 5,750 - 5,850 VND/kg.

At retail markets, rice prices have not been adjusted for individual rice products. Currently, Nang Nhen rice has the highest listed price of VND28,000/kg; Jasmine rice is VND18,000 - VND20,000/kg; Nang Hoa rice is VND20,000/kg; regular rice fluctuates around VND15,000 - VND16,000/kg; long-grain fragrant rice is VND20,000 - VND21,000/kg; Huong jasmine rice is VND18,000/kg; Taiwanese fragrant rice is VND21,000/kg; common white rice is VND17,000/kg; Soc regular rice is VND18,000 - VND18,500/kg; Soc Thai rice is VND21,000/kg; Japanese rice is VND22,000/kg.

In the export market, Vietnam's rice export prices are high. According to the Vietnam Food Association (VFA), 100% broken rice is at 455 USD/ton; 5% standard rice is at 567 USD/ton; 25% broken rice is at 537 USD/ton.

India’s 5% broken rice was quoted at $528-$534 a tonne this week, unchanged from the lowest since mid-January 2024 hit last week, as buyers delayed purchases from top exporter India.

A trader in New Delhi said buyers are holding back purchases in hopes that India will reduce export duties on non-basmati rice, as India’s rice stocks have risen sharply and farmers prepare to harvest the new crop in the coming weeks.
