Rice price today September 12: Stable price, weak purchasing power

Rice prices today, September 12, fluctuated little, traders purchased sparingly, while exports remained stable.

Domestic rice market on September 12

On September 12, the rice market in the Mekong Delta remained stable. Autumn-Winter rice transactions were slow, with low trading volume and prices remaining almost unchanged from yesterday.

According to the Department of Agriculture and Environment of An Giang province, the price of fresh rice IR 50404 fluctuates between 5,700 and 5,900 VND/kg; OM 5451 is at 5,900 and 6,000 VND/kg; OM 18 is between 6,000 and 6,200 VND/kg; Dai Thom 8 is at 6,100 and 6,200 VND/kg; Nang Hoa 9 is at 6,000 and 6,200 VND/kg; OM 308 is at 5,700 and 5,900 VND/kg.

In many localities, slow demand has made the market sluggish. An Giang and Vinh Long recorded low purchases by traders and stable prices. Dong Thap and Ca Mau are also in a state of moderate buying and selling, while Can Tho farmers offer high prices but transactions are still limited.

Domestic rice and by-product prices are stable.

In the rice segment, prices of raw materials and finished products generally remained the same. Raw rice OM 380 was at 7,450 - 7,550 VND/kg; OM 18 from 8,500 - 8,600 VND/kg; IR 504 at 7,700 - 7,850 VND/kg; CL 555 7,750 - 7,900 VND/kg; OM 5451 in the range of 7,700 - 7,900 VND/kg. Finished rice OM 380 fluctuated at 8,800 - 9,000 VND/kg, while IR 504 remained at 9,500 - 9,700 VND/kg.

By-products have some adjustments, OM 504 broken rice decreased by 100 VND, to 7,200 - 7,400 VND/kg; bran remains at 8,000 - 9,000 VND/kg.

Localities such as Lap Vo and Sa Dec ( Dong Thap ) recorded low rice arrivals, slow warehouse purchases, and stable prices. In An Giang, transactions were sporadic and supply was limited, so prices remained stable.

Retail and export markets

In retail markets, rice prices generally remain unchanged. Nang Nhen rice remains the highest at VND28,000/kg; Huong Lai VND22,000/kg; regular rice VND13,000-14,000/kg; Thai fragrant rice VND20,000-22,000/kg; Nang Hoa VND21,000/kg; Jasmine VND16,000-18,000/kg; common white rice VND16,000/kg; Soc Thai rice VND20,000/kg; Japanese rice VND22,000/kg.

In the export market, Vietnamese rice prices remained stable compared to yesterday. 5% broken fragrant rice fluctuated at 450 - 455 USD/ton; Jasmine rice at 532 - 536 USD/ton; 25% broken rice at 367 USD/ton; 100% broken rice at 319 - 323 USD/ton.
