Since the beginning of the year, the industrial production index has increased by 6.7% over the same period. The industrial production value is estimated at over VND18,949 billion, up 9.5%. The value of electricity production and distribution accounts for over 62% of the total industrial production value. The processing and manufacturing industry has maintained good growth. The total retail sales of goods and services have grown quite well, estimated at over VND5,998 billion.

Financial and budgetary activities grew well, with total budget revenue estimated at VND9,769 billion, reaching 65.3% of the estimate, up 9.5% over the same period. Budget expenditures were tightly managed and economical, with VND4,045 billion spent, reaching 30.9% of the estimate (up 6.2% over the same period).

The fields of culture, education , health, labor, employment, policies for people with meritorious services, ethnic and religious policies, and social security continue to be focused on and well implemented. Up to now, new jobs have been created for 9,215 workers, and 644 workers have been sent to work abroad for a limited period. Housing support for 946 poor and near-poor households in the Program to Eliminate Temporary and Dilapidated Houses in the province has been completed from the province's 5% savings fund.

The propaganda and mobilization work for health insurance participation has been strengthened. Up to now, the rate of population participating in health insurance has reached 87.35% of the population, reaching 91.85% of the plan.

Speaking at the conference, Provincial Party Secretary Ngo Chi Cuong acknowledged and highly appreciated the results of implementing political tasks and socio-economic development of the province in the first months of the year; at the same time, pointed out some limitations to focus on solutions to overcome them.

In directing the tasks in the coming time, the Provincial Party Secretary suggested focusing on leading and directing the implementation of the arrangement and merger of provincial and commune-level administrative units and the organization of the two-level local government system according to the provisions of law and the direction of the Central Government. Carry out well the transfer of functions and tasks from the district level to the commune level after the merger; ensure the completion of the organizational apparatus and working conditions of the commune-level administrative units after the merger to operate smoothly, synchronously, effectively and efficiently.

At the same time, coordinate the preparation of congress documents and personnel work for the Congress of the Party Committee of Vinh Long province (new) after the merger. Strengthen management, urge the collection of tax arrears, prevent budget loss. Speed ​​up the implementation and disbursement of public investment capital plans and capital for three national target programs. Strengthen market management, fight against counterfeit goods and commercial fraud.
