Amidst the bustling sound of lion dances and beautifully arranged food trays under the moonlight, the students here celebrated the Mid-Autumn Festival with their relatives and teachers; freely showing off their talents such as: juggling, balancing on balls, team-mates riding unicycles, holding hands on round balls... performances that made many viewers amazed when their faces were still innocent, but the way the children expressed their talents was confident and professional.
For teachers and autistic children studying at the Center, this year's Mid-Autumn Festival is very special because in addition to the entertainment and feasting program, there is also the event of setting two Guinness World Records by two talented 9-year-old children, Tran Xuan Sinh and Ngo Thien Phuc, with the content "The longest distance walking backward on a medical ball".
Ngo Thien Phuc (born in 2016), with pervasive developmental disorder, has been studying at Hoa Xuyen Chi Bac Giang Center since the summer of 2023. From not paying attention to communication, constantly asking and repeating some sentences, often getting angry, screaming... Phuc has made significant progress in behavior and language; especially the ability to maintain balance and concentrate.
Baby Tran Xuan Sinh (born in 2016), diagnosed with attention and activity disorder, mental retardation, had to drop out of primary school because he could not meet the requirements; he was discovered and developed the ability to balance in multiple directions on a physical ball.
Thanks to the support of the teachers at the Center and their efforts in training, Ngo Thien Phuc and Tran Xuan Sinh have become two special talents when they simultaneously set a Guinness World Record for balancing on a ball for the longest time.
Proud of his two special students, Mr. Vu Van Chuc, Director of the Hoa Xuyen Chi Center for Supporting the Development of Inclusive Education, shared: “The record set by the two young talents has a profound meaning not only for the children but also for the whole community. This achievement is not only a source of personal pride but also a symbol of belief in the ability to overcome all limits of children with special needs when given the conditions to develop in a suitable educational environment. This record conveys a strong message: Affirming that every child, regardless of disability or developmental difficulty, can achieve extraordinary things if properly supported. They have become "role models of reverse motivation"; proving that not only normal people can achieve great achievements, but even children with disabilities, when receiving the right support, can still rise up and do extraordinary things."
“Seeing my child develop and progress, I am very happy and grateful to the teachers at the Center for supporting and accompanying the children. Before, I never thought my child could do something miraculous, I only dared to hope that he would be healthy, communicate, and live normally. This year's Mid-Autumn Festival is very special for my child and my family because he has set a world record, giving me so much hope when thinking about his future,” Ms. Ngo Thi Bien, mother of Ngo Thien Phuc, emotionally shared.
