When it comes to Dortmund cuisine, nothing compares to beer. Dortmunder beer (full name Dortmunder Export) is the pride of the whole city, but there are hundreds of large and small breweries in Dortmund. Dortmunders drink beer in 2-liter glasses and they drink it whenever they feel thirsty. If it is beer before a meal, they drink a cocktail of beer, rum, licorice, nutmeg powder... which is good for the digestive system. Dortmund used to be a mining town, so their food is simple but nutritious.
