Leaders of Tran Van Thoi commune visited, expressed condolences and encouraged the families of the drowned children.

The two victims were NHH (13 years old, 7th grade student, residing in Hamlet 5) and TP (16 years old, 11th grade student, residing in Hamlet 7), both residing in Tran Van Thoi commune. According to initial information, at around 5:00 p.m. on July 15, after playing soccer together, the two students invited each other to go swimming in a pond in Hamlet 5. While bathing, P. drowned because he did not know how to swim. Seeing his friend in trouble, H. tried to swim out to save him, but because the pond was deep, he also drowned.

Some friends who witnessed the incident called for adults to come and help. However, when they were brought to shore, both children were already dead.

Leaders of Tran Van Thoi commune gave money to support the families of the drowned children.

Immediately after the incident, the local authorities visited, encouraged and provided initial support to the families of the two children to arrange the funeral. The commune leaders shared that this was a heartbreaking incident, a warning bell about drowning safety in the summer, especially for children and students in rural areas.
