Chess Prodigy 2025: Intellectual playground for young players

The 2nd season of the Chinese Chess Prodigy 2025 for ages 6 to 15 not only seeks young talents for Vietnamese Chinese chess but also offers a unique cultural experience.

The Vietnam Chess Federation, in collaboration with the Young Pioneers and Children Newspaper, the Vietnam Digital Content Creation Alliance (DCCA) and other accompanying units, has just announced the 2025 Chess Prodigy Tournament. This is the second season of the tournament, taking place nationwide, exclusively for players aged 6 to 15, with many new points in both form and content.

If chess has long been considered an intellectual sport for adults, then "Child Chess Prodigy 2025" has the mission of rejuvenating and making the traditional sport more familiar and attractive to the younger generation. In addition to the competition journey attracting contestants from all over the country, the tournament also incorporates Vietnamese cultural values ​​through the chess set "Rach doi son ha", recreating the Trinh - Nguyen conflict scene, inspired by the comic book "Co Chua". Each move becomes a historical story, helping children play, learn, and nurture national spirit.

The tournament kicked off today, August 28, and registration is open from September 1 to October 26. The qualifying rounds will take place in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City from November 8 to 16, before entering the national final round held on December 6-7 at Ton Duc Thang Museum (Ho Chi Minh City). In particular, the qualifying round is organized as a Chess and Culture Festival, with many experiential activities: transforming into Vietnamese generals, participating in mini games, interacting with national grandmasters, and receiving gifts imbued with Vietnamese culture.

The prizes are also richly designed to encourage the spirit of competition: from the qualifying round, players can receive prizes from 300,000 to 5 million VND. In the final round, the champion will be awarded the title "Chinese Chess Prodigy 2025", receive a symbolic cup, a certificate from the Vietnam Chinese Chess Federation and 30 million VND in prize money. The second, third and fourth prizes will be awarded prizes worth 10 million, 5 million and 3 million VND respectively, along with many scholarships and attractive gifts from sponsors.
