On April 16, the leader of the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Binh Thuan said that he had requested the People's Committee of Bac Binh district and related units to inspect and verify the legality of the Moon Lake Villa hotel project for handling.

Moon Lake Villa Hotel is newly built this year, located next to Bau Trang Lake (the upper lake, also known as Bau Ong), with a frontage overlooking Provincial Road 716, Hoa Thang - Luong Son section.

Part of this construction encroaches on the protection zone I of Bau Trang National Scenic Site by about 300 square meters. More seriously, the railing of the construction and the bridge leading to the check-in point (for tourists to take photos) have encroached and directly impacted the surface of Bau Trang Lake.

Bau Trang scenic spot is more than 60 km north of Phan Thiet, a famous tourist destination of Binh Thuan province. It has two lakes (Ong and Ba), Trinh Nu sand dunes and a typical coastal sand forest ecosystem that is still very wild, likened to a "mini Sahara", attracting many tourists.

In 2019, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism ranked Bau Trang as a national relic. The entire landscape was zoned for protection by the authorities of Binh Thuan province with a total area of over 371 hectares.

More than a month ago, the foot of Virgin Hill in the famous tourist destination of Bau Trang suffered a landslide of more than 70 meters, the water's edge encroached on the sand hill by about 25 meters. The initial cause was thought to be due to the water flowing deep into the surface under the sand hill, accumulating over time, loosening the sand foot, leading to subsidence.
