Ho Chi Minh City: Received nearly 49 billion VND to support people in flood-affected areas

On the afternoon of October 8, the Relief Mobilization Committee - Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City informed that in the morning of the same day, the Committee received many units and individuals to support people affected by storm No. 10 (Bualoi).

Accordingly, representatives of city enterprises went to the headquarters of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City to present 304.6 million VND in support. Specifically: Petrolimex Saigon One Member Co., Ltd. donated 219.6 million VND; Ismart Education Joint Stock Company 30 million VND; Gela Education Joint Stock Company 20 million VND; ICLC Intercontinental Foreign Language Center 30 million VND; Academy 5 million VND... In addition, the Ho Chi Minh City Health Department also supported 5,000 family medicine bags.

Speaking at the reception, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City Truong Thi Bich Hanh, Head of the Ho Chi Minh City Relief Mobilization Committee, expressed her thanks to the organizations and businesses that have made noble gestures and accompanied the relief work.

“I hope that businesses in the city will continue to accompany the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City in social and charitable activities, especially the program of contributing and supporting relief for areas severely damaged by storms and floods, as well as social security work, supporting the poor and people in difficult circumstances in the city...”, Ms. Bich Hanh suggested.

Previously, responding to the call of the Presidium of the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Ho Chi Minh City organized a launching ceremony, calling on people, agencies, organizations and businesses in the area to share and provide spiritual and material support, contributing to supporting compatriots to overcome the damage caused by storms and floods. At the launching ceremony, the amount of donations recorded was more than 35.6 billion VND.

As of October 7, the Ho Chi Minh City Relief Mobilization Committee has received 3,016 donations totaling over VND48.4 billion. From the received funds, the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of the city - the City Relief Mobilization Committee has organized visits, encouraged and supported people directly affected by storms and floods in the Northern and North Central provinces with a total amount of over VND47 billion.

The relief activities continue to affirm the spirit of solidarity and mutual love of the people of Ho Chi Minh City, contributing to timely support for people in disaster-hit areas to soon stabilize their lives.
