On the evening of October 3, the workers' dormitory in Binh Hoa ward, Ho Chi Minh City became more bustling when the mobile Mid-Autumn Festival vehicle of the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Activity Center entered.

The small truck was brightly decorated with paper lanterns, tinsel, and models of Hang, Cuoi, and the Jade Rabbit; behind it was the sound of the lion drums, attracting dozens of children to come out to welcome it. The usually quiet space suddenly became a miniature Mid-Autumn Festival stage.

The bus departed from Phu Loi ward at 6 p.m., carrying more than 300 gifts including moon cakes, milk, lanterns and small toys for workers' children. When the bus stopped at the workers' dormitory in Binh Hoa ward, where many workers in industrial parks are concentrated, the children quickly gathered around the bus. Many children had just come home from school and had not yet taken off their backpacks, running out in surprise and excitement. The eager eyes and continuous laughter made many parents stay to watch, dispelling the fatigue after a long shift since morning.

Nguyen Ngoc Phuong Anh (8 years old), a third grader at Binh Hoa Primary School, was one of the first to arrive. She said her parents worked the night shift so she and her sister stayed home. Hearing the drum beat, she ran out to see. She didn't expect that Hang and Cuoi would come to give gifts, which made her very happy. While sharing, she held up a rabbit-shaped lantern with flashing LED lights and smiled.

Little Nguyen Gia Khang, 6 years old, holding the moon cake he just received, whispered that he had never seen a lion dance so close, he even got to touch Cuoi and Hang.

Some of the older children participated in quiz games organized by volunteers, continuously raising their hands to answer questions to win extra candy and balloons.

The program “The Moon-Bringing Bus for Children - Loving Mid-Autumn Festival 2025” implemented by the Ho Chi Minh City Youth Activity Center is an annual activity aimed at children in difficult circumstances, especially children of young workers in industrial parks, concentrated accommodation areas or boarding houses. Different from programs organized in halls or parks, the “mobile bus” model helps bring Mid-Autumn Festival to every deep alley, narrow boarding house - where many children have never had a chance to participate in a proper party night.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Oanh, the owner of the boarding house where the convoy stopped, shared: "I have more than 7 rooms here, most of which are workers from other provinces. Some people work from morning to night and do not have the conditions to take their children out. Today, seeing the children in the boarding house enjoying the Mid-Autumn Festival, I also feel warm and wish that many other boarding houses also have this program for workers' children."

Not only children but also many parents stood and watched until the end of the program. Mr. Phan Van Thai from Soc Trang , a worker at a nearby leather and footwear company, said that he came home from work late at night and had no time to cook dinner, so he had no time to take his children anywhere. Thanks to the mobile program, he was able to take his children to enjoy the Mid-Autumn atmosphere and received lanterns and cakes.

Mr. Thai Kien Thuan, Director of the City Youth Activity Center, informed that this year's journey will last from September 24 to October 7, and is expected to visit more than 20 locations in wards and communes in the area. A total of more than 1,000 gifts will be given with a total cost of more than 100 million VND supported by the Community Volunteer Club, philanthropists, businesses, union members and youth. Each gift is worth about 100,000 VND but is a gift of love. The Center not only wants to bring gifts but also bring the Mid-Autumn Festival atmosphere to the children.

From a small truck, the program has become a bridge connecting the community, spreading the spirit of sharing. “The bus brings the moon to children - Mid-Autumn Festival of love 2025” not only brings moonlight to the boarding house but also brings hope that no matter where they are, children are still loved and cared for.

“Mid-Autumn Festival is a festival of family reunion. Even though children cannot be with their parents because of work, they still deserve a full moon season,” Mr. Thuan shared.

According to the representative of the Youth Activity Center, models like this will continue to be expanded, not only stopping at festivals but can also develop into "Mobile Libraries", "Weekend Skills Classes" or "Zero-VND Markets" for workers and their children.
