The Vietnamese women's volleyball team, with the excellence of Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, won against the Philippines in the second match of Group A of the VTV Cup International Women's Volleyball Tournament held on the evening of June 29 in Vinh Phuc.

Before the Philippines team introduced for the first time 3 players of American origin: Brooke Van Sickle, MJ Phillips and Tia Andaya, the coaching staff of the Vietnamese women's volleyball team was cautious when fielding the strongest lineup with Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Nguyen Thi Trinh, Nguyen Khanh Dang, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Doan Thi Lam Oanh, Nguyen Thi Uyen.

The home team started better but the Philippines players persisted before equalizing the score and taking a 12/10 lead over the Vietnamese women's volleyball team. High concentration and effective defense helped the Philippines team keep a 2-point lead (18/16). At one point, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet had to send setter Kim Thoa and opposite setter Kieu Trinh onto the field to replace Bich Tuyen and Lam Oanh to refresh the playing style and avoid being "read out" by the opponent. However, it was not until the explosive moments at the end of the match that the Vietnam team rose to win 25/20 against the opponent in game 1.

The Vietnamese women's volleyball team continued to have a better start in the second set, but the efforts of the Philippine players helped them to keep up. At the crucial moment of the match, Tran Thi Thanh Thuy and Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen shone again, helping the Vietnamese team to win 25/21.

The third match continued to witness the tug-of-war between the Vietnamese team and the Philippines. However, the talented duo Thanh Thuy and Bich Tuyen showed their role when scoring important points to help the Vietnamese women's volleyball team win 25/21, thereby closing the final victory 3-0 against the Philippines. Winning both matches, coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team took sole top spot in Group A of the VTV Cup 2025 International Women's Volleyball Tournament.

In another exciting match taking place today, the U.21 Vietnam team lost 1-3 to the U.21 Thailand team. Losing both matches, Dang Thi Hong and her teammates had to finish at the bottom of Group B. Tomorrow, the U.21 Vietnam team will play the final round of the group stage of the VTV Cup 2025 International Women's Volleyball Tournament, facing the defending champion Korabelka (Russia).
