Teacher who beat student until eardrum ruptured was suspended from professional work

On the afternoon of August 14, Mr. Nguyen Van Tinh, Principal of Vinh Loc High School ( Thanh Hoa ) said that after the incident in which teacher VXT (the school's English teacher) went to a 7th grade student's house and beat him until his eardrum was broken, the teacher had a detailed report explaining.

The school has set up a working group to clarify the incident and report to the Department of Education and Training. The Department also requested the school to closely monitor and supervise the child's health.

“We have now given Mr. T. leave from his professional work to spend time with his family taking care of his child’s health. The school will coordinate with Tay Do Commune Police to clarify the case,” Mr. Tinh said.

Mr. Tinh added that the school is waiting for the results of the police investigation, assessing the impact on the student's health and opinions from the family before deciding how to handle Mr. T.

Previously, as VietNamNet reported, teacher T. is related to the student's family (he calls the student's parents uncle and aunt) and has tutored the student since 3rd grade until now.

According to Mr. T.’s explanation, on August 8, during the summer, the student told his friend that “the teacher’s teaching was difficult to understand” (with some obscene words). Hearing this, Mr. T. went to the student’s house, in front of the student’s mother, and slapped the student in the face “to teach him a lesson from a family perspective.”

After examination, the doctor determined that the male student’s left eardrum was perforated and bleeding. He is currently being monitored and treated at Thanh Hoa Children’s Hospital.
