An electrical short circuit occurred at Vung Tau Secondary School (Vung Tau Ward, Ho Chi Minh City) this morning, October 1, forcing 1,400 students to evacuate urgently; fortunately, all were safe.

Ms. Le Thi Thanh Hoa, the school's principal, said that at around 10:00 a.m., while classes were in session, there was suddenly a loud explosion accompanied by sparks coming from the power supply area.
As soon as the fire broke out, security guards and staff used fire extinguishers to control it and prevent it from spreading. At the same time, teachers quickly guided all 1,400 students from 30 classes to evacuate to the main gate of Ly Thuong Kiet Street and the side gate of Thong Nhat Street.
On the class Zalo group, homeroom teachers also notify parents to pick up their children and request confirmation when the students return home safely.
“The school handled the situation promptly and there were no casualties. This afternoon, the school will allow all students to take a break to check the facilities, electrical system, and implement corrective measures. Only when safety is assured will students be allowed to return to school,” Ms. Hoa informed.
The incident has been handled and controlled by the local power company and the fire department. The initial cause was determined to be an electrical overload.
