Thanh Nien newspaper reported that although shooting expert Park Chung-gun's contract with the Sports Department expired on August 31, he has not received any offer to extend the contract. Mr. Park affirmed that the sports industry leaders did not exchange information, nor did they say thank you or goodbye after the two sides ended their cooperation. Therefore, he chose to return home to rest.

It is known that the Department of Sports and Physical Training has just sent a document requesting to extend the contract with shooting expert Park Chung-gun. Specifically, although the Hanoi National Sports Training Center and the Vietnam Shooting Federation both requested not to renew the contract with Mr. Park, the Department of Sports and Physical Training has a different opinion.

With the achievement of the women's pistol team at the Olympics considered to have succeeded half of the plan, to stabilize the achievements of the women's pistol team, especially athlete Trinh Thu Vinh, it is proposed to continue hiring expert Park Chung-gun in the next phase:

- 2024: from October 1, 2024 to December 31, 2024

- 2025: from January 3, 2025 - December 31, 2025

Training content includes: female pistol (currently there are 5 athletes: Trinh Thu Vinh, Nguyen Thuy Trang, Trieu Thi Hoa Hong, Nguyen Thi Huong, Tran Thi Xuan Huong, can be added or replaced during the training process as suggested by experts.

The sports industry also aims to assign tasks to experts with the goal of winning 3 gold medals at SEA Games 33 (2025), 2 gold medals at ASIAD 20 (2026) and having 2 spots to participate and win 1 gold medal at the 2028 Olympics.

The Department of Sports and Physical Training clearly stated that the completion of the targets for each specific stage as above is the basis for evaluating the completion of the tasks of experts in shooting annually to be able to continue to the next stage or not. Shooting is a key sport, expected to achieve gold medals.

Mr. Park Chung-gun is one of the foreign experts who has been associated with Vietnamese sports for the longest time. The Korean expert has been with the shooting team for a decade, leaving his mark on the 2 Olympic medals at Rio 2016 (1 gold, 1 silver) of shooter Hoang Xuan Vinh, and the gold medal at ASIAD 19 of Pham Quang Huy in Hangzhou, China.

Or most recently, shooter Trinh Thu Vinh, under his coaching, reached the top 4 in the women's 10m air pistol event and the finals in the women's 25m air pistol event. Thu Vinh is one of the very few shooters at the Olympics to reach the finals of both these difficult events. She also surpassed many good shooters from Korea and China thanks to her convincing performance, only lacking a bit of luck to touch the medal.

On the evening of September 12, expert Park Chung-gun (who is currently in his home country of Korea) received a letter from the Sports and Physical Training Department. He has not commented on the content of this letter.
