On the morning of November 22, the Vietnam Journalists Association held a conference on high-quality journalism in the context of digital transformation to meet the new requirements of the national press award charter and to promote the task of sustainable development in the Northern region.
Comrades: Nguyen Duc Loi, Permanent Vice President of Vietnam Journalists Association; Tran Trong Dung, Vice President of Vietnam Journalists Association; To Quang Phan, President of Hanoi Journalists Association chaired the conference.
Attending the conference were leaders of the Central Propaganda Department, the Ministry of Information and Communications ; representatives of the Associations, Branches, Journalists Association, and press agencies of the northern provinces.
Speaking at the opening of the conference, Permanent Vice President of the Vietnam Journalists Association Nguyen Duc Loi affirmed that the conference was organized with the purpose of summarizing, evaluating the implementation results and sharing experiences in applying digital transformation to improve the quality of press works in the process of implementing the High-Quality Press Support Program as well as the necessary contents to promote the propaganda of the task of sustainable development in the Northern region. The 13th Party Congress document clearly stated the political task of the press: "Building a professional, humane and modern press and media". In which, professionalism and modernity as required by the Party means that Vietnam's revolutionary press must also strive to keep up with the general development trends of the world. One of them is the fourth industrial revolution and digital transformation. Practice shows that digital technology has the first, strong and profound impact on the field of press and media. Using digital technology to make newspapers has become a matter of survival for the press.
At the conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Do Thi Thu Hang, Member of the Standing Committee, Head of the Professional Committee of the Vietnam Journalists Association, approved the criteria for high-quality press works that meet the requirements of the Charter of the 19th National Press Awards - 2024 on content, quality and social effectiveness of works, products and forms of expression.
In addition to the awards in print, radio, television, electronic newspapers, and press photo categories, this year's awards include awards for multimedia journalism and creative journalism.
Regarding content, for multimedia journalism and creative journalism, priority is given to unique, distinctive, and highly attractive digital content of the entries.
Multimedia journalism works and products and creative journalism must demonstrate creativity in the production and distribution of digital content, have high content, technical and aesthetic values, with solutions, applications (apps), interactive programs... to increase the quality, spread and impact of works and products on the public, promote breakthrough solutions for Vietnam's revolutionary journalism in a professional, humane and modern direction.
Journalistic works and products use multimedia data and apply production processes, techniques, and digital communication technology in the process of content creation and production organization, with independent formats such as: infographics, video clips, podcasts, multimedia news packages, data journalism products, interactive journalism.
Creative and innovative journalistic works, products and programs, regardless of type or genre, meeting the requirements of modern journalism, encouraging multi-form, multi-platform, multimedia, data journalism and automated journalism works.
Creative journalism works, products and programs have creative content, production methods, and forms of expression, with innovative and groundbreaking initiatives with outstanding content, specific applications in policy communication programs and campaigns, historical, cultural, artistic, and performance communication, etc. with distinctive, unique, and attractive forms, and have a profound impact on the public.
Press products use effective technological solutions, new technologies such as virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR)... to create unique interactive experiences with the public.
Also at the conference, representatives of Nhan Dan Newspaper, Vietnam Television, VietnamPlus Electronic Newspaper, Economic and Urban Newspaper shared experiences in digital transformation of journalism; innovation to increase the effectiveness of social impact of journalism; ideas and implementation of creative journalism; and creation of multimedia journalism content.
